It’s hard to be part of a military family.

Their family members appreciate what they do to protect the country. But it’s so hard to be away from each other and not knowing whether each reunion is the last time you’ll see each other.

Most military families are separated from each other for months or even years at a time.

Some parents miss family milestones because they’re stationed overseas. Military parents are not there to see their children grow up.

Of course, there are a lot of benefits for military members and their families. The family has health insurance, an affordable cost of living (on-base or off-base), and educational benefits. They can also travel to the country where their family is stationed if it’s possible.

But all these perks do not make the long separation easier.

Family time is only available for a few short months and then they’re gone for longer. And then reintegration back into the family is hard as well since they’ve missed so much.

But then, there are families who found a way to make it manageable.

And every time they are reunited, it’s a tearful moment, yes. But it’s also a moment with no awkwardness and just pure love for each other.

In this video, it’s Lyric Stewart’s high school graduation. Everyone is present except for her dad, who’s in the military.

During her high school graduation ceremony, the graduates had a rose that they gave to their parents. It was such a sweet gesture and the parents loved it.

One by one, the graduating students went up to their parents in the audience and gave them a rose. The parents reached out to hug their son and daughter. It was a very touching moment.

Now, Lyric’s name was called last, which seems strange since her name shouldn’t be last called.

What she didn’t know was that the school purposely put her name last so her military dad can surprise her. He was able to come home for her graduation and wanted to surprise her at the ceremony.

Lyric now had the rose in her hand and was going to give it to her mom in the audience.

But then, she looked to her left and was shocked to see her dad walking up to her. She rushed over to give him a big hug.

That was when her entire class stood up and cheered the reunion. Everyone was in on the surprise!

Whether Lyric noticed the cheers or not didn’t matter. She was hugging her dad and she couldn’t see anything else. Her mom and her siblings had already rushed to their side and were hugging each other.
