Margaret Court says that “tennis is full of lesbians,” which is fine with us if it’s true but apparently Court didn’t mean it in a positive or factual way.

This isn’t the first time the former Australian tennis champion has shared her hateful ideology with the press.

Court, who is in her mid-70s and a Christian pastor, has been quite outspoken about her beliefs that homosexuality is a sin and that gays are out to corrupt the children. She also believes homosexuality can be cured.

“Tennis is full of lesbians,” Court said, according to The Guardian. “Even when I was playing there were only a couple there but those couple took young ones into parties. And what you get at the top is often what you’ll get right through that sport.”

Thankfully, there are those out there trying to keep hate out of their beloved sport.

American tennis star John McEnroe is one of those people and he didn’t take Court’s hateful comments lightly. He even threatened her with Elton John.

Some of the old fashioned people running Australia still haven’t gotten on the equality train, as same-sex marriage isn’t protected by law in Australia. All registered Australian voters will be getting a letter asking them if that law should be changed by Sept. 12.

The results of the letters will be in as of Nov. 15.

McEnroe says that he has big plans for the day the law is changed.

“I will personally call my good friend Elton John to host the biggest same-sex mass wedding ceremony ever seen — in Margaret Court Arena,” McEnroe said in a video posted on Eurosport directing his comments at Court. “Margaret, that’s the kind of guy I am.”

Many LGBT advocates have called for the arena’s name to be changed. Court says these efforts are an attempt at bullying her into not speaking out against the LGBT community. McEnroe says they don’t need to change the arena’s name but they will cover it in rainbows.

McEnroe also responded to Court’s “full of lesbians” comment.

“The way I see it, there are three options regarding this statement,” he explained. “Number one: This is true, and who gives a f***? Number two: This is not true, and who should give a f***? And number three: This is half-true and should we really give a f**?”

He accused Court of pulling tennis back into the “dark ages” and said she shouldn’t worry herself by two female tennis players hugging each other on the court.

“It’s just a decent human being consoling a friend in distress,” he said. “We all need more of that these days, a decent human being doing a decent thing. Do you know how hard it is still to come out in 2017? Just think about that.”

Unfortunately, this is true but with people like McEnroe who continue to speak up, it shouldn’t be that way for too much longer.
