In Hollywood, some stars stand out more than others. It’s not only because of their talent on screen but more importantly the things they do off screen. Those are the ones with class, the individuals who genuinely love to give back to communities.

Matthew McConaughey falls into this category. Okay, he’s easy on the eyes but he’s also a man of integrity. As you know, that’s something hard to find in today’s world. And we can prove this point with one of his many acts of kindness.

An incredible actor

He’s one of the few big stars who never changed his name. Born in 1969 as Matthew David McConaughey, he got his start in show business as a supporting actor in Dazed and Confused. But his talent was quickly recognized, taking him directly into leading roles.

Showing he cares

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected everyone’s lives in one way or another. But it’s been especially hard on elderly people living in nursing homes or assisted living facilities. Like other places, the residents at The Enclave at Round Rock Senior Living are bored out of their minds.

McConaughey to the rescue

You see, this particular assisted living facility is in Texas, the same state where McConaughey was born. As a fellow Texan, he wanted to do something to help. And while the residents had long been trying to get him to visit for some time, with social distancing, this wasn’t an option.

A brilliant idea

Since there was no way for him to go to the assisted living facility in person, he decided to visit virtually. But it gets even better. He became the official caller of a hot bingo game among the residents.

He had support of his family

Not only did the people living in the facility get to see McConaughey but also his wife and kids. Lending their support, they too watched the bingo game unfold. It was amazing and as imagined, everyone had a blast.

The grand prize

For these residents, just having McConaughey call out the bingo numbers was a prize in itself. But there was another prize. Whoever won the game had the opportunity to ask him a question about himself. Now, that’s cool.

Coming up with innovative options

Molly Davis, the director of the assisted living facility, explained, “Our team members can’t interact with the residents the way we normally do, so we have been doing everything possible to uplift them virtually. This was a wish come true!”
