The military life ain’t easy.
Being away from your loved ones takes toughness. You have to be incredibly strong and spirited to be in a military family.
This is true not only for the one being deployed but also for the entire family.
Anyway, what do you think of surprises?
Some surprises are so unbelievable, they might as well be miracles.
One military mother recently experienced one of these miracles.
Meet Betty.
Today’s a regular old day, sure.
But at the same time, it’s a very, very special day.
It’s not every day that you get to see a loved one unexpectedly – much less your Marine son that’s been gone for a year.
A strapping young military man steps into the room.
His mother has absolutely no idea and thinks they’re getting ready to take a family photo.
Lance taps his unsuspecting mom on the shoulder.
Naturally, Mom has no idea how to react. She doesn’t need to think.
Screaming at the top of her lungs will do for now. Her excitement takes care of the pleasantries.
Say hello to Marine Lance Cpl. Abasiono Udofiah. He hasn’t been home in a year.
If surprise had a face, here it is.
Betty can’t believe her eyes.
Is this even real life? Is it too good to be true?
Her son’s there in front of her. In the flesh.
And she had absolutely no clue!
Lance even looks like he’s recoiling for self-protection.

This might be one of the greatest reactions of all time. She hasn’t seen her son in eons!
Lance explains what was running through his mind during the reunion.
Turns out, Lance planned the whole get-together with his siblings before he came back home.
He admits that his mother and family are always on his mind. He wanted to do something special for her upon returning home.
That’s one handsome military man.
This Marine’s a sucker for bear hugs.
It doesn’t get much better than a family’s warm embrace.

Fortunately, good things still do happen in this world. Take that coronavirus!
Surprises aren’t for everyone. But I don’t think anybody in the family’s going to be upset about this one.
