It was a simple action that made the difference between life and death.
In Coweta County, Georgia, a man and his partner walked into a Texaco gas station just off Interstate 85.
They looked just like any other normal couple at first glance but the reality is far from it.
The incident, which happened April 29, showed the couple approaching the counter.
The victim tried to pay for her item which appeared to be soda.
But as she did, she asked the person behind the counter if she could use their phone.
The clerk obliged, handing her a phone.
Little did they know, the woman was planning to use it to phone for help. Sensing this, a rather disturbing encounter unfolded.
The man took the phone away.
Then, he grabbed the woman and pushed her towards the exit. The woman put up a bit of a fight.
She tried to grab onto anything she could just so he couldn’t pull her away. The whole incident was caught on camera.
“It’s very much a human being being moved against their will by someone who’s stronger than them. And put in a vehicle that they don’t want to be put in,” said Toby Nix from the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office said to FOX 5 Atlanta.
The camera outside showed how the man pushed the woman towards a truck.
The suspect shoves her into the back of the truck and steps inside the passenger seat. Then, before they could back up, a stranger gets out of their car.
At first, it seems that the stranger was just out there to see what was happening. Then, they quickly ran to the back of the truck in order to make a lifesaving move.
He took pictures of the license plate
One of the clerks who was also following the couple called 911.
Because of the photo and information they gave about the license plates, the police caught up with the truck quickly.
They used the information to trace the vehicle which eventually led them to a residence where the suspect was taken into custody.
A hero’s praise
The deputies praised the stranger and the clerk for their bravery. If it were not for them, the encounter would’ve ended up badly.
“It’s very brave. It’s very courageous, very helpful, they could have gone about their day and this lady would have been somewhere she didn’t want to be with someone she didn’t want to be with,” said Nix to the news outlet.
The man was identified as Timothy Todd Milner.
He’s currently facing charges of kidnapping, false imprisonment, and battery. He is being held without bond after trying to kidnap his girlfriend.
This incident taught us that one shouldn’t be afraid to help especially if they are in the position to do so. What the stranger and the clerk did was simple but it was enough to save the woman from further danger.
