What would you do if you witness someone in danger?
We have different reactions to different situations.
Some call for help, others scream in fear, while others set aside their safety just to help someone in danger.
A man is being hailed a hero after doing something you usually only see on your television.
This was real life and the stakes are high.
A passerby was walking the street.
Weâre sure he never planned that how his day would turn out or that he was about to be an unlikely savior for someone he doesnât even know.
As he was passing by a residential building, a scream could be heard.
Other passersby turned to where the sense of alarm was coming from. A person on a bike looked up at the building.
Then, when the man finally turned to where the crowd was looking, he was horrified.
He ran to a spot right under the building. Within seconds a little boy fell straight into his reach.
The boy rolled down the street.
But thankfully, because of the manâs intervention, his fall was broken.
The boy was lucky because someone was there to catch him. Even more so, a car passed by just a few feet away from him.
A woman ran to their aid and checked on the boy. A crowd also formed around the boy, maybe to figure out what happened.
Fortunately, no one was injured.
The clip showed the kid resting on their couch and seemed to be unharmed.
Meanwhile, the man who rescued him said that he just got a minor muscle strain.
He became the neighborhoodâs unlikely hero.
And the man said itâs something heâd do again if ever he finds himself in a similar situation.
âThe childâs safety is the top priority.â He said, as quoted by the South China Morning Post, âIf I encounter a similar situation in the future, I will run to help again.â
Viewers reacted to the video.
One said that the man really risked his life because if the boy fell from a higher floor, the rescuer wouldâve broken his back.
Others pointed out that the boy wouldâve suffered severe injuries if the man wasnât there to break the fall.
Commenters on YouTube said the same.
âThe hero didn’t catch the child.â One said, âHowever, he did slow down the momentum and partially diverted the forces of gravity, which was enough to save the child’s life and prevent critical injuries.â
âThe child could’ve lost his or her life or have been seriously injured! I hope they investigate fully and this matter is not repeated. Kudos to the guy!â One comment pointed out, especially that this kind of accident isnât entirely new.
All involved got very lucky.
