When you’re a policeman, you can’t easily ignore an emergency or critical situation. When you know someone’s in trouble, you’ll do everything you can to help. That’s exactly what an off-duty cop couple did when they were out for a dinner date.
Chase and Nicole McKeown went out on a date at Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers.
They’d just been married for several months. And like most couples, they like going out on dates whenever they can.
Unfortunately, their lovely evening was cut short when they noticed a masked man walking up to the cash register.
Armed with a gun, he started demanding money from the restaurant’s cashier. A civilian might have run away in fear, just seeing a man about to commit a crime.
But this couple was far from running away.
In fact, they did the exact opposite. They stepped up and sprung into action. And by the way they moved, they looked like actors in an action movie. Their moves were precise but careful.
In the CCTV footage, the pair can be seen carefully pointing their guns at the robber.
After realizing the situation he was in, the man dropped his weapon and started running out of the restaurant. The couple went after him. Surely he never expected it!
After chasing the suspect, the pair was able to make the arrest.
They chased him through downtown Louisville. There, they were able to make an arrest with the aid of local police officers.
The footage has gone viral and tons of people expressed admiration for their bravery and ability to think quickly.
One particular YouTube viewer commented:
“This is literally so cool. The way they get up, reach for their back pockets for their guns, and how she goes to the outside while he goes straight in. Then when they chase him outside they look like freaking superheros with their stances.”
Another one said:
“What a beautiful and strong couple! You’re lucky to have each other!”
There was also this person who had a funny thought about what happened. He shared:
“Imagine being the cashier, having someone pull a gun on you, and then having two random people pull out their guns and chase him down. And you probably dont know their cops either 🤣“
Eventually, the suspect was identified as a convicted felon.
The 30-year-old man had been charged with receiving stolen property, robbery, and possession of a handgun.
Even though what the two Kentucky police officers did was admirable, they think otherwise.
For them, any officer would have done the same thing. That’s what all of them do when it comes to saving people’s lives.
And like their work, the two also prioritize teamwork in their marriage.
In an interview with NBC News, the pair shared:
“In marriage, we’ve got each other. We’re going to talk things out. We’re going to deal with whatever comes at us.”
