Contrary to what most people believe, busking is legal in the UK. But you need to have a license to do it.
And when you’re one of the few who’s granted a license to busk, you can only busk in certain places.
Plus, your “salary” is dependent on how much is given to you by the public.
It’s all about the tips.

Buskers can earn anywhere from £20 to £50 per hour and there are some with a goal of reaching £100 per hour.
But it varies day by day, so every pence and pound matters to them.
There are times, though, when buskers or good people in general recognize when someone needs the money more than them.
That was the case with Liv Harland.
Liv Harland is a singer from York, Scotland who’s been busking for about five years now.
She said when she first started out, she was so nervous she hid in an alleyway. Now she’s so used to busking that she can do it in any location.
She was busking in this busy area in York when she noticed a homeless man digging through the garbage bin nearby.
He was looking for food.
Liv saw him and thought he was not going to be eating garbage at that moment. She stopped singing and went over to him.
“If I gave you money to get fresh ones, would you?” Liv asked the man.
Of course, the man said yes.
Liv went to her bag with all the money that was given to her while she was busking and took some of it to give to him.
“Promise me you’ll get fresh ones?” Liv asked him again.
The man was so grateful as he took the money from Liv.
“Thank you, lovely,” the man told Liv.
Liv went back to singing with a full heart. It wasn’t something she planned to do but it just happened.
In Scotland, although the numbers have decreased, there are still around 34,000 homeless people in the country.
There are various reasons for this, including a dispute in the household, being asked to leave their previous accommodation, or violence or harassment being involved.
Although the local government provides temporary accommodation for them, the pandemic has made this option a little more challenging.
Applications are getting harder because the people staying in these temporary accommodations are staying longer than they should.
The people with nowhere to go are forced to do what they can to survive.
People like Liv make it easier.
Her kindness was returned.
Whether you believe in karma or not, Liv does and the good deed she did came back to her.
A few seconds after she gave the money, a young guy came over to her bag and dropped money in it.
He apparently saw what she did and wanted to give it back to her. When she checked her bag, she saw that he gave her twice the amount of money she gave him.
That is amazing. This just shows us that there is so much good in this world and it needs to be celebrated.
