When it comes to buying Christmas presents, people seem to either love it or hate it.

The crowds can seem overwhelming, but the spirit of the season tends to bring about good feelings.

One elderly man didn’t seem to mind it though, as he had already bought 14 years’ worth of presents for his young neighbor.

Despite their extreme age difference, the old man, a mister Ken Watson, loved his 2-year-old neighbor, Cadi Williams.

They met when Cadi’s family moved in next door to the pensioner on the coast of a small Welsh village.

Owen, Cadi’s father, went to introduce himself and found the man, who was in his mid 80’s, on the roof of his house.

Ken was doing some maintenance and, despite his age, he was determined to do it himself.

He quickly hopped down the ladder when he saw Owen coming over and the two became fast friends.

Ken even won over the Williams’s dog almost immediately when he offered it some digestive biscuits.

As soon as Ken met Cadi he fell in love with her and doted on her every whim, the two shared an incredible bond.

However, age caught up with Ken eventually and he passed away when Cadi was just 2.

It was a sad time for the family who were soon shocked at just how much Ken had loved little Cadi.

When Ken’s daughter was clearing out his estate, she found something incredible.

Tucked away in the back of a closet was 14 years’ worth of presents that Ken had bought and wrapped for Cadi.

Owen recalls being surprised to see Ms. Watson on his doorstep with tears in her eyes and an oversized bag at her side.

The emotional woman explained how she had found all these gifts for Cadi and that she knew her father would want her to hand them over.

Owen, choking back his tears, accepted the gifts and thanked her.

He and his wife counted out 14 gifts, one for every year until Cadi turned 16.

They didn’t know exactly what to do with the haul, should they open them to see what each one was in order to ensure Cadi got things for her age, or just present her with a random one each year?

He said that he was very curious and opened one of the presents just to see what it was, it turned out to be a sweet Christmas book that was perfect for her age.

Owen decided to take to Twitter to ask his followers whether or not they should open them.

Though Owen has only 5,000 followers, over 60,000 people voted on his poll.

The results were that they should pick one at random each year to give to the little girl.

Though it is unlikely that Cadi will actually remember her kindly old neighbor, she will never forget that he was there and that he loved her.

Every year, for the next 14 years, Cadi will get to open a present from someone who loved her so much that he wanted to ensure she always had something to open on Christmas morning.

Though he may no longer be around physically, the Williams family will surely never be able to forget him.
