Washington State Trooper John Bryant reminds everyone to be safe and smart.

What prompted the state trooper to say the reminder was because of a recent situation he saw a few weeks ago.

We’ve seen many types of road mistakes and some can even qualify to be on the top 20 facepalm drivers, including this one.

It’s not every day that you see a U-Haul truck hauling an SUV. Not just that, the SUV was only being “secured” by one strap.

State Trooper Bryant saw this on a two-lane highway four hours just east of Seattle, Washington. He couldn’t believe what he saw, so he posted the photos of the weird incident on his Twitter.

“I suppose it’s moving season,” Trooper Bryant said in his caption.

The people who saw the photo shook their heads. From what it looked like, it could cause an accident soon.

“That’s kind of the things we look at, we as troopers,” Bryant explained in his interview with Inside Edition Digital.

Another officer spotted the driver and said to himself, “Should this be driving on the road? Is it safe?”

The motorist didn’t think too much about the whole hauling part. There were no precautionary measures, not enough straps, and the U-Haul was not the ideal vehicle to be moving an SUV.

There were comments that the strap was actually okay, and the situation wasn’t too bad.

“If you look at the photos, it’s hazardous,” Bryant commented. “I mean, there’s no bones about it. No matter how many comments I get on social media saying, ‘Well, it’s not that bad.’ It is pretty bad. It’s not a good thing.”

The people who would say that it was okay or not too bad may not realize the severity of the situation. One wrong move, the motorist could hit someone and cause multiple accidents.

He’s not only endangering his life but also the lives of other people.

The officers responded immediately and pulled the driver over. There was more to the situation than it seemed.

The officers discovered that the driver’s license was already suspended, and he has an outstanding warrant from a previous suspension. It turned out that he didn’t show up for his court hearing.

Aside from all that, the rented U-Haul was already overdue.

“U-Haul was upset, to put it mildly, that their vehicle hadn’t been returned in quite a while,” Bryant said. “I don’t know what the number of days were, and that day the manager told our trooper that they were actually going to list the vehicle as stolen because it hadn’t been returned.”

The officers and people from U-Haul couldn’t help but be disappointed with the entire ordeal.

Washington State Troopers cited the driver for $139 for an unsecured load.

The driver now has another thing to worry about. He has a warrant issue, U-Haul penalties, a suspended license, and an unsecured load fee.

According to Bryant, these problems can be solved, and the motorist could have been in a worse situation, like causing an accident.
