Adoption is not just taking in another child under your supervision.
According to pbs.org, there were 1.5 million adopted children in the United States back in the year 2001. That number alone represents 2.5% of all children in the country. Also, there are about 135,000 children that are being adopted in the US each year.
The statistics show an overwhelming number of children that are in dire need of forever homes and families. Actions are surely being made to promote the adoption of children, however, it seems to be not enough.
Every child deserves to have parents.

It should be unacceptable for a child to go through their childhood stuck in the foster care system. These children just want to have that sense of belongingness. Making them feel worthy of becoming sons and daughters is the best feeling you could ever give them.
This is the beauty of adoption, you better have your tissues ready on this one.
In a viral video shared by the YouTube channel ‘Angela Hasty Wilson’, the true beauty of adoption was deeply shown. The video features a stepdad and a grown-up man during father’s day. Little do the dad knows, something’s about to make him tear up during his special day.
Well, we’ve seen a lot of surprises during mother’s day, father’s day, birthdays, and other special occasions. Most surprises cause waves of laughter and smiles, this one, however, even though it’s filled with joy, is a tearful one.
Unboxing.
In the first couple of minutes of the surprise video, the guy receives several cards with some father’s day greetings and messages written on them. But when he goes to the large box, everything gets more exciting.
He gets a couple of energy drinks and other stuff inside, all of them are paper-wrapped. He is a bit skeptical while he is opening each but the person holding the camera gives him assurance by saying “there is no trick“.
He digs into the final piece and the dad starts to tear up.
The final piece inside the box is a framed picture of them (stepdad and son) together. With it is also a heartfelt poem that says:
“Some people would say you’re not my real Dad
but we know this isn’t true ..
For you’ve been a Real Dad to me
in all the things we’ve been through.We’ve had our ups and downs
sometimes its hard to bend ..
But you’ve always been there when I needed you
and that’s what matters in the end.You’ve been patient, kind and firm
over the years as I’ve grown ..
And I’m eternally grateful to you
because you’ve treated me as your own.Although we’re not tied by bloodlines
the Love and Trust you’ve given me ..
Is a precious gift, day after day
and that’s what counts as a Real Dad to me.
So let’s just make it official…”
This is definitely something you don’t expect an adult man to be doing. Some may find it cheesy or not appropriate for his age. But not for him, he doesn’t mind doing it at all because he truly loves his stepdad.
But when dad thought that’s all they have for him, he’s definitely mistaken.
He begins sobbing as soon as he sees what’s at the back of the frame.
A brown envelope is attached at the back and inside it is a piece of paper – a piece of paper that’s bound to change both of their lives forever.
It’s an adoption paper and it states his desire to be his legitimate son. Putting it into simple terms, he’s asking “stepdad” to be his “real dad”.
It’s the BEST Father’s Day present he could ever have and it’s probably the only thing they both want.
See, don’t take child adoption lightly because it’s very special to many people. If you’re someone who supports pet adoption then might as well support the adoption of children as well.
