We’ve all wished we could find a wad of cash on the ground, but what if one was delivered to you by accident in a pizza box? Well, for most people, asking forgiveness instead of permission would probably have been their choice! For one man, however, the thought of taking money that didn’t belong to him was simply too much.
Mike Vegas is a bartender at AT&T Park and Hawthorne lounge in San Francisco and had what some would call a “test” happen to him.
A Friday night several years ago, Vegas decided to order a pizza and wings to enjoy at home. Soon, however, he got a call that he had to head to work.
“I thought I was going to get Friday off, so I got a large pizza and wings, but then I got a phone call that I would have to go into work.” – Vegas, NBC Bay Area
When the pizza got there, he snagged a piece, hopped in the shower, and then started getting ready for his shift. Heading to work, he didn’t think much of it.
In the early morning after his shift (around 5 am), Vegas made a discovery!
Looking to grab some more food, he opened the delivery box and discovered… two massive wads of cash?
“I got off work really late, and when I came back home I found the cash in the delivery box — a refrigerated deposit … I was rubbing my eyes at 5 a.m., laughing at myself.”
Somehow there was a huge amount of (refrigerated) money sitting in the wings box he had ordered, and it wasn’t his. Since it was so early, he went to bed and planned to call the local store and tell them what happened.
When he woke up, he already had a text from the delivery guy asking if he had found anything.

Likely to the relief of the delivery guy, Vegas called him back and explained that he found quite a bit of money that wasn’t his. Thinking the situation to be quite funny, Vegas then took some photos of the event and posted them to Facebook. On the final count, there were two stacks of cash, one $666 and the other $623. His caption read:
“Bank drop gone wrong I’d say LOL. I’m gonna take it back and ask how much pizza for a month would cost me.”
Although the internet tried to tell him to keep it, he knew it wasn’t the right thing to do.
Instead of taking the cash, he simply returned it to the Dominos that had lost it. They were extremely thankful and even offered him something in return: unlimited pizza for a year! It looks like a good deed didn’t go unrewarded. Vegas did say one thing about having all that pizza, though:
“I’m gonna have to join a gym ASAP now,” he said laughing. – NBC Bay Area
