There will be times when we will face situations that will test us.

Just ask George Condash of Westland, Michigan.

January 2021, Condash was driving near the Westland Federal Credit Union when he noticed a black box in the middle of the street.

“I drove right around here and it was sitting about right here,” Condash said in his interview with ClickonDetroit.

Instead of driving away, he decided to stop and move the box so that no other driver would be inconvenienced.

It was a good thing he did.

“Well, first, I just thought it was trash. For some reason it hit me that, ‘Why don’t I just pick this up so no one else has to swerve around it?'”

So he went out of his vehicle and went near the black box. At first, he thought that it was some type of trash.

When he saw it up close, he saw a tag that said $40,000 was inside the black box.

You can clearly see that Condash did not even think twice.

He already knew his next move.

Other people might have shown hesitation and would need to think long and hard before deciding what to do next, but Condash did not.

He went straight inside Westland Federal Credit Union.

Once inside, he smiled and told the teller about what he found outside.

You can clearly see the look on the bank teller’s face as Condash brought in the black box full of money. He saw how dumbfounded the cashier was.

That’s when Condash joked and asked if he will receive a reward for returning the $40,000.

But what happened?

Why was there a box full of money outside?

The CCTV video showed that an armored security guard accidentally left $27,000 outside one of the ATMs at a Westland Federal Credit Union location.

The box didn’t contain $4ok.

It had $27,000 in it. No matter how small, it would still have been a great loss for the Westland Federal Credit Union.

When you’re holding that much money and there’s no one around, some people might easily get tempted, especially when you need the money.

Where integrity, honesty, and value meet.

When asked if Condash ever, for a split second, felt tempted to take the money, the kind man simply answered:

“It’s not mine and any honest person, I would hope, would take it back in.”

Because of his kind and honest actions, no one at the credit union was punished for what happened.

Something to think about.

It was also a big lesson for the people who had been handling the cash.

Because of what he did, the credit union decided to hand Condash a small token of their appreciation.

No matter how small or big the amount is, don’t let it destroy your value, integrity, and honesty. Always do the right thing.
