Have you ever heard a song that’s so catchy, you can’t help dancing – even in public?

From a psychology perspective, this makes a lot of sense. We have a natural tendency to move to the music when a good beat kicks in. We were all, quite literally, born to dance.

One of the catchiest tunes of the century is A-ha’s “Take on Me”.

The hit might have been released in 1985, but nearly 40 years later, most adults would still tap their toes and bop their heads to the all-familiar chorus.

In fact, it’s still in the charts, with 2021 figures placing it at 148 on the Billboard Global.

You definitely will have seen some dances to “Take On Me” over the years – but nothing like this.

That is, not unless you’ve come across somebody dressed as spiderman flossing to the song in a comic store.

In case you need a reminder, “flossing”, a term that often refers to using a bit of string to get the stuff out from between your teeth, took on another meaning in 2017.

We’ve got a lot of people to thank for that, but mostly the dancing backpack kid.

If you haven’t seen the video of this kid dancing at one of Katy Perry’s live shows, he pretty much invented flossing – a dance move that’s very hard to explain and even harder to do – and the rest was history.

Back to Spiderman in the comic store. A year after flossing became a thing, many people had religiously practiced the move in their bedrooms – including, it seems, Spiderman.

It’s pretty random, as you would expect.

After flossing along to the opening notes, Spiderman moves into a fully-fledged dance routine.

He hops on one leg, then seems to collapse onto the floor – but it turns out the move was an intentional half-death drop (this is turning into an encyclopedia of dance moves, sorry. Check the picture for reference).

Moments later, he’s back on his feet, clicking exaggeratedly.

This guy’s got some energy to burn!

It’s only when the chorus kicks in and Spiderman does a full flip on the floor that we realize something: he’s actually pretty good.

And while this basically is as random as it seems, it’s less random on the internet – if you happen to be one of Ghetto Spider’s 381K subscribers.

Ghetto Spider is a YouTube channel that features Spiderman himself dancing in various public locations.

There must be something about a guy busting moves in a skintight suit that gets people going, because almost every video he’s posted has gone viral.

The fact that we never see the person beneath the costume opens up to lots of conspiracy theories: is it a man or a woman under there? Is it someone different every time? What’s the story behind all this?

But it seems it’s the randomness that people love the most about this guy (or gal).

Not only does he seem to have boundless energy; he also does all sorts of comedic moves to certain parts of the music, which makes him pretty hilarious to watch.

At one point, he even busts out in a few Michael Jackson moves – not something you’d usually expect from Spiderman, but we’re here for it.

This guy would rock at a kids’ birthday party!
