Man starts with a single egg and turns into an idea changing homeless lives
Sometimes you can never know the impact of a single idea.

It began as a fun video series for social media. He never thought that the new series of videos he was making would significantly impact the community.

It all started by doubling yolks.

Egg yolks, that is. Ryan Peters of Peters Pasta thought about making a series of videos on his social media accounts.

The idea? To double the yolks in his dough recipe every day to see what he could make.

It had an impact he couldn’t imagine.

Ryan is a chef based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

He specializes in pasta but also loves to cook all other types of food.

He graduated from the IUP Academy of Culinary Arts and has been honing his skills by working at restaurants and clubs across the country.

In 2018, Ryan decided to focus on pasta and has not looked back since!

PetersPasta was born.

He has shared videos, especially on Tiktok, showing his skills in pasta making. And he has also traveled to places while making pasta dough.

Recently, Ryan posted a video on his Tiktok channel with the caption, “This would make like one single noodle.”

He explained in the video that for every batch of dough he’d be making in the series, the egg yolks will double.

The rest, as they say, is history.

From then on, he added more videos to the series, faithfully doubling the number of egg yolks used in the previous video.

Day two has 2 eggs, Day 3 has 4, day 4 has 8, and so on. This could not go on forever though.

He thought 512 egg yolks were enough.

“When we hit 512 eggs, that’s when it was like man, this is way more pasta than me or my friends or family need or wants,” Ryan shared in an interview.

“This could be an opportunity for me to give back.”

Ryan also mentioned that making videos on the internet is fun, but he wanted to have more impact and through this series, he could give back to his community.

And, boy, did he give back.

He contacted an organization called “Outreached Arms” which basically takes food donations and distributes them to the people in the city.

From there, it opened up other opportunities to team up with other organizations.

It took him all day to prepare the pasta dough as he would cook different kinds of recipes.

Ryan helped in preparing the food for them.

“It was really nice for me to like, you know, cook a fresh meal for people. Like a warm meal,” said Ryan.

He also had the chance to serve the pasta he was making to the people who would be least likely to get it ordinarily – a treat for all involved.

The impact he had cannot be beaten, he said in the interview.

Using minimal ingredients and turning them into something that people would love to eat is the climax for every chef.

He’s now at 2048 yolks.

Leftover pasta is brought to a Community Free Fridge which Ryan helped establish through a collaboration with FarmLink.

The amount of pasta that came out of this batch will feed a lot of people for days.

Currently, as always, Ryan is preparing for the biggest batch yet.
