Daniel Lobell is a rising Los Angeles-based American stand-up comedian.
He’s also a comic-book writer and a podcaster, best known for his famous podcast Modern Day Philosophers.
Many people appreciate this man’s comedic genius and his dream is to spread laughter to everyone.
He is also very proud of his bus turned into a mobile studio.
This bus was his priced possession, his livelihood, and his pride.
He parks it behind his home in the Pico-Robertson area, L.A.
On Thursday, May 4, 2023, at around 1 in the afternoon, an unknown masked man who climbed into his backyard robbed Lobell’s bus.
In the CCTV footage, you can see the man holding a bag full of equipment.
A few minutes later, Lobell noticed the bus door had been opened.
Upon entering, he felt weak, realizing they had robbed him.
He checked everything and found out that he lost roughly $25k in studio recording equipment.
Poor Lobell was confused, hurt, scared, and sad. Lobell was also anxious about his family’s safety.
The thief had taken away his peace of mind and livelihood.
Around past 3 that same day, while walking in his backyard, Lobell saw the thief again, cleaning his fingerprints.
He ran towards the criminal.
Lobell tried his best to get on the trampoline but he couldn’t, so he pushed the play house towards the burglar.
The burglar was able to run away, leaving Lobell shaken.
“I haven’t been able to sleep in days and every little noise, I jump up to protect my family,” Lobell expressed what he felt with KTLA 5.
Whenever he feels down, he tells himself that he would still be able to move forward and that what matters is that they are all safe.
“Everything happens for a reason and God is good,” Lobell reassures himself.
He believes that there will be something good that will come out of this situation.
He thinks that maybe, as this news goes viral, the police would prioritize the case and they would be able to catch the perpetrator.
Lobell also admitted that ever since the robbery happened, he couldn’t sleep.
He would jump at the slightest noise and would check if they were okay.
This incident affected their livelihood, safety, and mental health.
Lobell wishes that this case would be solved and they could go back to normal.
Some people told him to move out of LA, but he wouldn’t, saying that LA is a part of our great country.
He firmly believes that running away isn’t going to solve anything and that we all deserve better.
Lobell had already filed a police report.
He also turned the surveillance video over to police, believing that the authorities will help solve the crime.
The comedian had also started a GoFundMe campaign, asking kind-hearted people to please help him rebuild his livelihood.
Lobell and his family still have a long way to go, and they are still shaken up to this day, waiting for the case to be solved.
As of now, he’s trying to rebuild everything and he’s also thanking everyone who has been donating.
We are all hoping that the thief would be caught and that Lobell to be able to rebuild his beloved mobile podcast bus again.
