Choosing a best man was easy for Will Claussen. There was no other chose than his younger brother, Henry Claussen. Having the biggest concern out of the way all he had to worry about was how he was going to ask his younger brother. Should he just come out and ask him without any fanfare? Should he ask him privately? Should he create a special moment that they would always remember?
Will settled on creating a special moment that was definitely going to surprise his younger brother and be a memory they would always remember.
Will Claussen knew he needed his brother to stand next to him on his wedding day. His brother, who has Down Syndrome, is the most positive person he knows and positivity is what a groom needs on his wedding day.
“In a World with much need for love and positivity, @claussenhenry_ [Henry Claussen] always comes through,” Will wrote about his younger brother.
Will and Henry have grown up in Mankato, Minnesota and their bond has only grown stronger as they have gotten older.
Metal detecting is one of Henry’s favorite hobbies and with this in mind Will was able to pull off a great moment. Will buried a special message in a bottle and then went with his brother to go find “hidden treasures” with a metal detector.
Their mom filmed the special moment when the brothers found their “buried treasure.”
Henry was stunned to find a bottle with a message inside. Henry’s mother and brother were great actors too with their “stunned” reactions. At the urging of his mother, Henry opened the bottle to read the message. His shock is pure when he realized the message was for him.
The message read, “Henry Joe, you are already the BEST bro, and my very BEST frand, so will you please say yes and be my BEST man?”
After a small amount of convincing that the message was real, Henry gave his reply. A giant and exuberant hug!
Henry did not have to say the actual word “yes” for Henry to know that his brother was more than excited to be his best man. His hug said everything that needed to be said.
Will shared the special moment on his Instagram account and the touching video quickly went viral. Will chose his younger brother for his positivity and now the world knows why. Henry’s positivity is contagious.
“Our initial goal was to spread this positive moment with our friends and family and it just kind of turned into the rest of the world,” Henry joked during an interview.
If you are wondering if Will’s bride to be has gotten a bit jealous about her future husband and brother in law’s viral fame, don’t worry, she is all happy for the two.
“I’m a special education teacher and so when I started dating Will and found out that Henry was his brother I was like, ‘Wow, like it’s just a match made in heaven.’ Then seeing their relationship and how much they lean on each other, how much they look after each other; it’s just like you couldn’t ask for anything else in a brotherly bond,” Allison “A.J.” Johns explained.
