Perhaps the greatest gifts in life come from real, loving people that would do anything for a friend!
Meet a lunch lady named Machelle. You see, things have been beyond tough for her these days.
This particular story’s somewhat of a tearjerker. One day, a fire robbed Machelle of most of her possessions.
She lost everything, including her prized quilts.
That’s right, Machelle’s a huge quilter! Her quilts are a thing of beauty. Well, I guess they were a thing of beauty, unfortunately.
Ever since the fire, she’s put quilting on the backburner.
Losing everything can be almost impossible to recover from!
Fortunately, there are a few miracle workers in this world.
Meet the Random Acts team. They’re a happy-go-lucky bunch.
Their jobs literally revolve around making people’s day.
Turns out, they just received a call about someone in need of a brighter day – and this time, their eyes are set on Machelle!
Some friends had put in a call to make Machelle’s day. Maybe even her year!
Enter Random Acts.
The Random Acts crew heads to the cafeteria to tell Machelle the news.
Machelle just lost everything in a fire… including her quilts. Little did she know that something special’s about to happen.
“They said that you had a rough time recently.”
Machelle doesn’t know what to make of this kind stranger’s words.
What’s happening?
“We’ve covered everything. You’re not doing lunch today.”
Instead of lunch, the Random Acts crew was going to send her to Hamilton, Missouri to go quilt shopping.
Machelle was overcome with joy to the point of tears. But she was a little hesitant leaving her coworkers behind.
Well, good news.
Turns out, the entire staff was in on it!
Machelle couldn’t hold it in anymore. This was truly one remarkable day.
At this point, Machelle doesn’t hold back.
Those are tears of joy!
Machelle didn’t even need to move a muscle or worry about getting her things together.
Prior to the big surprise announcement, the Random Acts crew contacted friends and family to help gather some things.
Everything’s taken care of.
With Machelle now in the know, the crew boarded the plane to Hamilton.
Next stop: the quilt store… Up, up, and away!

Needless to say, Machelle the lunch lady is thankful for everything. This might have made her year!
She even got to meet quilting superstar Jenny Doan.
Bad things do happen to good people.
But so do good things!
When Machelle’s life was turned upside down, friends and family did the best they could to turn it right-side up.
