Distin had gone to see a movie at the historic theater decades ago in 1975. While she was there, she lost something valuable. Her wallet had fallen out of a hole in her purse and she didn’t notice until she got home.

When she called the theater later, they told her that they would have the cleaning crew look for it. Unfortunately, it was never found… until now.

The man who found the wallet is Tom Stevens. He had gone to the balcony to find an electrical box and noticed a small hole filled with old wrappers. Dropping inside, he saw the wallet and opened it up. To his surprise, it still had an ID inside!

Using the ID, Stevens went looking for the woman. With the power of social media, it only took a few hours.

“Does anyone know Colleen Distin?” the post starts. “While doing some maintenance we have found her wallet. To give you an idea how long ago it was lost, there is a concert ticket from 1973 and a driver’s license that expired in 1976.” – VC Star

Soon, the internet was able to locate the woman. It was Colleen Distin! Totally shocked, she went to pick up the wallet and have a conversation with Tom since he had found it. During her conversation, she revealed some of the things that were in the wallet that she had lost.

“I remember calling the next day when I realized it was gone. They said no one found it, but to call back, which I did. I had a little bit of money in it, but I needed it at the time. I have no idea what photos are in there, or which concert ticket since I did go to many back then. Such a blast from the past, and a good one I must say.”

One of the things that she had lost was a $200 check that had gone missing.

$200 back in the 70s was a lot of money! To show that they were sorry the money and the wallet had been lost, the theater actually decided to replace the money! Accounting for inflation, the theater wrote her a check for $1000 and hand-delivered it to her when she came in for the wallet.

Reunited with all her memories and blessed with a $1000 gift, Colleen was incredibly thankful.
