It’s easy to lose hope over the state of the world when we know there are terrorists running around murdering innocent people in public places.

But the stories about people who stood up to terrorists and protected their fellow man during the recent London Bridge attacks have restored our faith in humanity.

Here are some of the heroes who risked their own lives for others that day:

Kirsty Boden

Kirsty Boden, a 28-year-old South Australian nurse, was one of seven people who lost their life during the London Bridge attack.

Boden, who is described as a “country girl,” was attacked by one of three terrorists as she ran toward the danger instead of away from it in order to help other victims, 9news.com.au reports.

It’s unclear whether she was killed on London Bridge or in the Borough Market area.

“Kirsty Boden was a beautiful young woman from Loxton who left south Australia to explore the world to use her talents to care for others,” South Australian Premier Jay Weatherill said. “She died doing just that, trying to help others. This is just so cruel, so wrong for someone so compassionate to be taken from us by such an unspeakable act of evil.”

Ignacio Echeverría

Ignacio Echeverría was stabbed to death by one of the terrorists after coming to the aid of a woman who was being assaulted. Echeverría, who has been dubbed as the “skateboard hero, was a 39-year-old Spaniard who was living in London and working for HSBC.

He used his skateboard to attack one of the terrorists who was assaulting the woman and was killed by another terrorist, according to The Guardian.

Florin Morariu

Even though those inside the bakery where Florin Morariu worked told him to stay inside, the Romanian chef grabbed two crates and hit a terrorist who was stabbing people in Borough Market over the head with it.

He then let 20 scared people into the bakery to seek shelter and pulled the shutters down, according to The Telegraph.

Apparently, he also had time to take a video during the attack that you can watch here.

Sergio Fariña

When a terrorist tried to force their way into Arthur Hooper’s restaurant, the manager Sergio Fariña push backed against the door and blocked the attackers from entering.

According to The Telegraph, he is responsible for saving several lives of people hiding inside the restaurant just before police shot and killed the terrorist.

His act was caught on video below:

When terrorists Khuram Butt, Rachid Redouane and Youssef Zaghba entered the Black & Blue restaurant in Borough Market where Ron Larner was drinking, he didn’t allow himself to become a victim.

He fought the three men with his bare hands and was stabbed eight times during his attempt to protect his fellow restaurant goers, according to Daily Mail.

So even there are people in the world who seek to perform evil acts, there are even more people who seek to do good and rise up against that evil.
