Dance like no one is watching, they always say. We can’t deny the overwhelming urge to get funky when our favorite song is playing and no one’s around. Maybe your go-to groove spot is the shower or your kitchen late at night. The more privacy you have, the better, right?
How does a whole airport to yourself sound for one of these late-night dancing sessions? Not your thing?
Mahshid isn’t as fussy. Her destination was Colorado, first coming from New Jersey. She had plans and a schedule, but thins got complicated and she missed the flight. Oh dear.
She was headed to a wedding, and had to stop at Charlotte. The unfortunate set of circumstances left Mahshid stranded at Charlotte Douglas International Airport. It was going to be a long night, and another flight wasn’t arriving any time soon.
Might as well dance, I guess?
The airport is pretty big. There’s enough dancing space to go around, so let’s pick a song and get things started! How does some Lionel Richie sound?
“All Night Long” sounds like the most appropriate song to use. There isn’t going to be a director or a producer for this music video, however. They’re doing things impromptu and going with the flow.
At least she didn’t have to pay her backup dancers.
Mahshid wasn’t the only person staying on airport grounds overnight. An airport requires a staff, clearly. And if they’re not here to dance with you at night while you’re waiting for your flight, what else are they here for?
Everyone, from counter attendants to service workers and managers take up Mahshid’s invitation to get groovy. They may be in suits, ties, and uniforms, but there’s no dress code required for an impromptu dance session. Mahshid dances her heart out with pretty much everyone sharing the time at the airport with her.
Hold on! There’s a lot of folks here who could smell your body odor, better use this janitor’s spray bottle to freshen yourself up.
Including other would-be passengers awaiting their flights. Mahshid goes on to say how happy this made her when she uploaded it to YouTube.
“I missed my connecting flight in Charlotte, and I didn’t want to sit in anger all night long, so instead I did what makes me happiest…DANCE!!!! Oh, and I made some really great friends along the way! Thank you for dancing your troubles away with me!!!”
And just to make sure she got everyone to join, the barista at the airport coffee shop joins in too. I think he deserves a raise for being such a good sport about it!
Don’t bother calling the manager on them, because the manager is probably dancing along too.
Mahshid then demonstrates a stellar moonwalk for us. Her moonwalk is particularly flawless too. MJ would be proud!
One of the service workers is feeling the groove so intensely that she can’t help but start twerking too, which even Mahshid wasn’t ready for. Hey, it ain’t over till the airport service worker twerks.
Additionally, and – perhaps obviously too – this whole little dance session is probably what they all needed. Working the night shift or missing your flight can be pretty stressful, so just dance all the bad vibes away with everyone. There’s still a whole lot of stuff to enjoy in the world!
Like, an actual acknowledgement and invitation from Lionel Richie himself.
Lionel Richie was one of the 3 million people who viewed her spectacular dance session at the airport. She received an invitation from him to attend a concert and then meet him backstage. Talk about lucky!
If this video was enough to make the man himself smile, you should probably watch it too. It’s down below for you to play.
