Lady Gaga is one of the most famous names in the pop culture world. From her chart-topping hits like “Bad Romance,” “Edge of Glory,” and “Telephone,” to her award-winning performance alongside Bradley Cooper in “A Star is Born,” the pop star has attracted attention all over the globe.
So, it seems unbelievable to learn that the singer’s college peers had a Facebook group called, “Stefani Germanotta, you will never be famous.”
Stefani Germanotta was Lady Gaga’s name before she made it big in the 2000s.
The group, with only 12 members, was dedicated to trashing and gossiping about her. They posted pictures of her posters getting stomped on and called her an “attention-whore.”
At the time, Gaga was living on nothing and playing in piano bars as the start of a career that would eventually explode. But she had long experienced bullying from her schoolmates.
The “Bad Romance” singer overcame a lot of adversity in order to find her break.
“I used to do these really big Evita brows,” said Gaga. “I used to self-tan, and I had this really intense tan in school, and people would say, ‘Why the fuck are you so orange, why do you do your hair that way, are you a dyke? Why do you have to look like that for school?’ I used to be called a slut, be called this, be called that. I didn’t even want to go to school sometimes.”
But Gaga always focused on the prize. She started taking singing lessons when she was 11 years old. Within a few years, she added acting and piano lessons. No matter what others said, she was always focused on her dream of being a singer and an actress.
She started at NYU Tisch School of the Arts.
But soon, Gaga grew impatient with studying. She wanted to get out into the real world and kick-start her career.
Her first record deal with Def Jam records fell through after only three months. It was another crushing blow for her, with the record label saying she wasn’t a good fit for them. Gaga kept working hard, writing songs for other major pop stars like Fergie and Britney Spears.
She didn’t get her moment in the spotlight until, unexpectedly, she recorded a reference vocal track.
From there, she secured a record deal.
Known in her early days for her outrageous outfits — including her legendary “meat dress” at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards — Gaga has since grown both as an artist and an actress.
Her 2018 performance in “A Star is Born” has earned her new fame and respect in the world of music and film.
These days, Gaga is an artist with a huge number of awards to her name. She has been nominated for 24 Grammys and won a total of nine. She also won an Oscar for her song “Shallow,” which was featured in the 2018 film “A Star is Born.”
“If you are at home, and you’re sitting on your couch and you’re watching this right now, all I have to say is that this is hard work,” said Gaga. “I’ve worked hard for a long time, and it’s not about, you know…it’s not about winning. But what it’s about is not giving up. If you have a dream, fight for it. There’s a discipline for passion. And it’s not about how many times you get rejected or you fall down or you’re beaten up. It’s about how many times you stand up and are brave and you keep on going.”
As for the 12 members of her Facebook hate group, there’s no knowing what they’re thinking now.
