One baby kitten who was found at an auto parts store fit right in at the farm that adopted her.
She even made some new friends. But not cat friends, piglet friends.
“We took the kitten in at our farm and she snuggles, sleeps and plays with baby piglets and momma,” the farm owners told ViralHog.
Apparently, pigs and cats make peaceful pairs.
“As a pig owner, it is important to consider the safety of the pig when mixing them together with other species of animals that is why we need to know which animals they get along with and which they do not,” Pet Pig World explains. “So do pigs and cats get along? Yes, pigs get along with cats very well most of the time! The cat and pig pair is known for their good and balanced chemistry. Pairing a pig together with a cat is not as chaotic as the common cat and dog combination!”
This is because they are prey animals which means they aren’t likely to attack when a cat aggressively tries to play with them.
“Cats are also better in tolerating a pig’s behavior than they do with dogs and dogs cannot tolerate pigs the way cats can do,” Pet Pig World explains.
“Still, it can depend on the pig and the cat’s personalities on how well they can get along. Pigs can get along with nearly any other animal but the usual problem is if they are liked back. Cats may like them back but they may not form a bond that some owners may expect. If a cat is old or not into a pig’s behavior, the cat may just ignore the presence of pigs which is okay since they will not be fighting.”
And while some cats and pigs might find each other to be too energetic for their liking to the point where they’ll ignore each other, that wasn’t exactly the case on this farm.
When two little piglets were playing in their pen the little kitten jumped on over to join in on the fun.
A third piglet then hopped on over to get in on the action too.
It seems that this kitten has absolutely no idea that it’s a kitten.
It seems that this kitten thinks it’s a pig.
And this kitten loves being a part of this litter.
These guys are just hopping all over one another and having a grand old time.
And it’s absolutely adorable.
But if you’re going to introduce your cat to your pigs it’s best to do it slowly.
You’ll definitely want to supervise their first encounter.
Then give them some space so they can act naturally and not feel pressured.
You’ll also want to respect the first animal’s territory. If the cat becomes territorial or threatened it’s best to let the cat calm down before being slowly reintroduced.
They’ll have to have as much interaction as possible until they are comfortable with one another.
After that, they should be playing and cuddling together in no time.
