There’s nothing more inconvenient, or more frustrating, than having a flat tire on the road. Imagine cruising down the street without a care in the world–everything fine and peachy–and one of your tires pops. Even worse, you only have a few minutes to take your child to school. That was the scenario for one woman and her daughter when their car’s flat tire stranded them at a gas station.

The 30-year-old woman and her daughter, Zamiha were on their way to the latter’s school when their tire popped. Stressed and in a rush, Shemecas found herself in a pickle.

Thankfully, a kind officer stepped in to help out.

Officer Rozyskie, with 30 years on the force, did an act of selflessness that truly defines the meaning “To Protect and Serve.” The kind policeman actually offered to take Shemecas’s daughter to school. He even took out the booster seat and put it in his car to take her to school.

The mother took a video of the officer’s amazing generosity, praising his actions, and posted it on Facebook.

“This policeman stopped…to help, to take my baby to school,” Mabry said in the Facebook video, “He did not have to do that, to make sure she gets to school on time.”

The video showed the gentleman escorting the little lady with the pink backpack.

“He did not have to do that,” Mabry said, “to make sure she gets to school on time, and I’m riding with her so she can be comfortable.”

Shemecas, Zamiha, and Rozyskie rode together to school, talking about how they want to make the community better. Shemecas was studying psychology and planned to open her own clinic. As for officer Rozyskie, this momentous act of kindness was all just part of the job, but suffice to say, it’s always a worthwhile effort to help out people without expecting anything in return.

The post received 229,000 views and 2,400 likes, and Officer Rozyskie was praised for his selflessness by his department.

The past few years have shown police receiving a lot of scrutiny for their actions. But it is important to remember not to generalize people. There are men and women of the law who do what they can to make their community feel safe. It’s important to treat others with respect and kindness, because you never know when you will be needing help.
