If you’re a man or woman over the age of 45 and you feel like you could use a whole new look, there’s a salon in Minneapolis designed especially for you.
Christopher Hopkins’ (aka The Makeover Guy) “appearance studio” caters to everyone, but specializes in mid-life makeovers.
Whether it’s a birthday change-up or someone trying to get out of a decades-old style rut, people fly in from all over the country (and sometimes from outside the country) just to consult with him.
His YouTube videos are wildly popular. After all, everybody loves a good makeover – and Hopkins’ are epic. The one we’re about to show you has over 1.6 million views!
Commenters can’t believe their eyes when someone comes out looking like a whole new person – or, more often, an almost impossibly glam version of their former self.
Kim from Iowa got one of those makeovers when she flew in with her daughter and sister to get a 60th birthday makeover.
Years prior, Kim had mentioned to her daughter that such a birthday gift would be welcome. So, according to the caption:
“…her daughter, husband, son, daughter, and son in law got it all together and surprised her with a makeover. She hadn’t looked at herself all day. She had no idea what she looked like until her final video. They even picked out and bought a new dress for her last video”
She was all smiles when she said that she never expected to be in Hopkins’ chair.
And then she said the magic words: “free rein!” And boy did he take that seriously!
Kim already has gorgeous hair, but what would a makeover be without taking off some inches?
When Kim’s daughter and sister walked in, they were stunned at the redheaded bombshell!
Hopkins took off some major length and gave her a bright ginger look with some highlights added for dimension.
Kim’s sister looks like she might stick around for her own makeover after seeing the result!
Now, her daughter clearly needed a minute to process the new look.
In addition to the new hair, her makeup was off the charts!
The young woman was stunned to see her mom bronzed and bold with popping eyes and great, big lashes.
Kim only had a minute to respond before they came in to take a look, but their reactions buoyed her own happiness.
When she finally got to see herself, the 60-year-old (who now looks a decade younger, at least!) had to fan away tears as she shouted her approval.
She looks truly breathtaking – and she might have actually taken her daughter’s breath away for a moment there!
Hopkins, in the meantime, is pretty pleased with himself too.
While she was lovely before she looks absolutely stunning – and he knows it.
After the big reveal, we got to see just how much hair was taken off.
Light layers add a ton of volume to her hair and fill out her face. While her locks were gorgeous to begin with, long hair can start to drag down the gaze and make other parts of the face sag.
But let’s face it, Kim had a great face to work with!
Just look at what a difference a haircut and color can make!
That old color looks drab next to her new light red locks.
