When Pastor Jim and his wife Pam were visiting Jim’s parents in Maine, they were hoping to spend some time enjoying family moments and making happy memories.
Instead, their trip ended with Jim being rushed to the hospital with no pulse.
You see, one day, he went out for a walk, but suddenly his wife had a feeling that something was not right with her husband.
Knowing that something was wrong, she went out to look for him, and that’s when she saw a police car and two ambulances, all around her husband who was not moving.
“He was all purple and his eyes were fixed like glass. They were red and yellow. And it was like ‘My husband – this can’t be happening.'” she told CBN.
Pam was really worried about her husband and she didn’t know what to do, so she called Paul, an elder in their church, whom she asked to pray for Jim.
“And the Spirit rose up inside of me, And I said, ‘Pam, he will live and not die.’ And that’s according to Psalms 118:17. ‘He will live and not die, and he will declare the goodness of God.’” the man recalled.
After about thirteen minutes without a pulse, paramedics managed to revive the man, who was rushed to the nearest hospital.
Although he was then breathing, doctors feared that his brain might have suffered permanent damage.
“For every minute that your heart is stopped beyond a critical limit, you have decreased blood flow to all your organs, particularly your brain,” dr. Guzowski, who treated the man, told CBN.
Doctors expected Jim to respond to stimulation after a drug-induced coma after 36 hours, but six days passed by, and he didn’t show any signs of waking.
That’s when his family started thinking that maybe it was time to leave it all up to God and hope for a miracle, while preparing for the worst.
Pam said that, at the time, the only thing she could do was pray for her beloved husband, as did numerous members of their church.
But their son knew that maybe the time had come for his children to see grandpa for one more time- maybe the last one.
“We should give the kids a chance to possibly say goodbye to their grandfather. Knowing that, you know, it may be kind of the last time they would see him,” their son, Justin, said.
And that’s when the miracle happened. While his grandkids were around him, holding his hand, singing and praying for him, he woke up.
Justin, Pam, and the doctors who were treating him at the time could not believe it.
Jim made a quick recovery, and there was no permanent brain damage as doctors had feared.
Today, he’s happy and thanking God for saving him.
“As I look back and I see how so many people rallied and I-I’m humbled. I’m most thankful for, obviously, for our faithful Lord and Savior Jesus, and, you know, because he’s faithful,” says Jim.
