Dogs are sweet, cuddly animals who are full of wet, slobbery kisses that we love to hate (’cause we all know where their mouths have been – yuck).
When they’re not eating bird poop or licking their bums, they’re chewing on the couch or using their sad “puppy eyes” to play us for snacks and walkies.
With a winning combination like that, it’s no wonder we can’t help but adore doggos. They are man’s best friend after all, right?
Well, not if you’re a suspect in a high-speed car chase with cops.
Then their only purpose in life is to take you down in the most dramatic, Hollywood action movie way possible!
O.J. Simpson brought freeway car chases (and white Ford Broncos) to the forefront of our imaginations back in the 90’s when he was famously caught on camera trying to evade law enforcement.
Ever since then, we’ve been fascinated with cops in pursuit of fleeing suspects.
Although his was a low-speed chase that crawled on for hours at a snail’s pace, the most recent car chase to capture our attention happened in San Diego and involved a determined K9 cop named Bo.
His mission? Nab, grab, and bring down the suspect in any way possible! And he’s been trained to do exactly that.
This action-packed “tail” all started after the suspect in question, Daniel Medina, was reportedly involved in a hit-and-run accident. He fled the scene, and a short time later the man led officers on a chase in a stolen minivan.
When he stopped in the middle of Interstate 15 and refused to get out, the 5-year-old Belgian malinois, whose specialties include narcotics, officer protection, and catching bad guys, was brought in to end the tense standoff.
However, Bo is no ordinary K9 officer – this lapdog has a flair for high drama!
While Bo circled the perp’s car like a shark circling his prey, officers shot out the driver’s side window.
Then, like a stunt double in an action flick, this amazing doggo dived headfirst through the smashed window and bit down on his arm!
Video footage shows the startled man suddenly jump out of the car and beat Bo back with an umbrella, but none of that was enough to deter this furry fella from doing what he was trained to do – take down criminals!
It was all in a day’s work for Bo, who has seen and done it all.
His handler, Deputy Ryan Padilla, says that the San Diego County Sheriff’s K-9 wasn’t actually injured during the umbrella smackdown.
“I know it’s not something people like to see, but he’s very resilient. I couldn’t be more proud of him.
When he’s not on the clock, Bo is just like any other pup out there – he wags his tail and tries to be a lap dog.
“He’s way too big.”
So, what can a K-9 with Bo’s experience expect to earn as a reward for a job well done?
“I rewarded him with a couple extra chicken strips.”
What a good boy! Be sure to check out the video below to see exactly how this K-9 take down San Diego’s criminals.
