It’s not unusual for women to have hair struggles. Yet, a lot of times mixed in with the “bad hair days” there are some pretty decent ones too. That is unless you’re unhappy about your hair overall – meaning every day is a struggle.
51-year-old Julie from Duluth knows exactly what it’s like to be frustrated about her locks. In fact, she’d had the same hairstyle “forever” and lacked confidence about how it looked.
But here’s the good news…
Julie has a thoughtful and supportive husband who wanted to see his wife feel good about herself. So for Christmas, he ended up getting her the best gift ever – an appointment with The Makeover Guy!
She was a bundle of nerves.
The couple made the drive to visit Christopher Hopkins’ salon in Minneapolis so that Julie could enjoy her day of beauty. Although it would be like a dream come true – she was both excited and extremely nervous about the makeover. Fortunately, she didn’t back out though.
According to a nationwide survey put on by InStyle, 81% of the women reported feeling “the most confident when their hair looks great.”
Julie’s husband hoped it would help boost her self-esteem. He shared:
“I think she’s always been kind of hard on herself sometimes as far as you know, her hair and how it looks, and her presentation. I just want something so that she feels good when we go out some place … because I think she’s beautiful all the time.”
Julie felt that she’d “lost track” of herself.
There are many benefits to working from home. However, if you’re not interacting with other people each day – you might not see a point in getting all done up (which is understandable). For Julie, after such a long time of working from home and not caring so much about her looks, she felt she could use a “jumpstart.”
She didn’t know what to do with her curly hair.
Julie always struggled with her type of hair and explained that she typically kept bangs. She just needed some help in the beauty department, which is why she was in the right place!
“I want to feel better about me at this age.”
The Makeover Guy and his team worked their magic on Julie.
From the start, it’s obvious that Julie has a sweet and bubbly personality. But after a day at the salon, she finally has a gorgeous and fun hairstyle to match!
Just wait until you see Julie’s bouncy curls that make her look younger and more vibrant. The stunning makeup job (which was done by Kayla Francis) is like icing on the cake! She tells the camera, “This feels like me.”

In the end, she reveals her fabulous new look to her husband.
On top of Julie loving her new look, her other half does too. He’s got the biggest smile on his face and he tells her she looks “fantastic” and “sexy.” These two need a big night out on the town!
