“Uplifting lives through beauty” are the first words that greet you when you visit the website of Christopher Hopkins. They’re inspiring, and when you consider his pseudonym, The Makeover Guy you can bet that you’re in safe hands. He’s been incredibly successful in his beauty making career, and regards himself as an “entrepreneur, entertainer, cyber-star, author, and appearance aficionado.”
His work has been seen and enjoyed by millions, and every so often someone gets a chance to let him give them a complete re-beaut.
This particular lucky someone is a lovely 48-year-old lady by the name of Joni, hailing from Altoona Pennsylvania. When her sister sent her a link to one of Christopher’s makeover videos, saying “Check out Christopher, this is a great thing. So, we should try it!” And so, Joni did try it!
As Joni tells the camera, she feels as if she had been “stuck in the 80’s”.
Wanting a refreshed look, she enlisted the help of the expert and his team of top-shelf beauticians. She had gone some time without trying anything new with her style, and had worn her blond hair in the same way for many years.
Sat in front of Joni, The Makeover Guy gets to work.
The scope of Christopher’s work goes beyond a quick buff and a new coat of paint! As Joni asks him for advice on complimentary colors for jewelery, he makes expert recommendations based on her hair, skin, eyes and features.
He has expertise, AND expert-eyes.
With the sharp eyes of someone who has been doing this a long time, he is able to assess every detail and make deft recommendations for Joni.
“You look more “Spring” to me, off the top of my head”
The whole team helps Joni out.
It’s not just The Makeover Guy himself who puts his talents to the test for Joni’s makeover, but she even gets a makeup artist, and a fashion consultant. This is very important for Joni, whose needs are specific.
“I am a grandmother so I want to look appropriate but I want to look nice. I want to look feminine.”
Their fashion guru makes recommendations for a variety of outfits and fashion styles for our subject.
They do get to have a laugh all the while!
It’s not all business at The Makeover Guy HQ. When he makes a light-hearted joke about Joni having somewhat of a “Tonya Harding” look, they all chuckle together, and Joni even gives a facetious flick of her hair.
But of course, sooner or later it’s time for The Makeover Guy to live up to his name.
At last, it’s time for Christopher to pick up the scissors and do what he does best. Armed with his arsenal of hairdressing accoutrements, he puts his practiced hands to work.
Before long Joni is beginning to look like a whole new person.
Joni’s eyes are already a stunning shade of bright blue, but they made her eyes even more blue with a lot of browns and natural cream colors. When she she’s what Christopher has done with her hair, cutting it much shorter, she has this to say about it:
“I love it! It looks natural, I never expected this color”
