Weddings are some of the most fun things to go to.
Dressing up, dancing, and spending time with friends and family is the best thing! You can’t go to a celebration without feeling emotionally lifted yourself. Sometimes, celebrating someone else is just the medicine the heart needs.
There are always the CUTEST moments that happen at weddings.
We all love it when the ceremony begins, and the ring bearer and flower girl come through the aisle. If they do it perfectly, it would probably make the news! You don’t pick little kids to do it because you want it perfect, you pick them because they are hilarious!
The “big moment” that happens at most weddings is when the bride and groom are up at the front together.
The priest/pastor asks the two if they are ready to commit, he asks the crowd if there are any reasons the two shouldn’t wed, and finally, he tells the groom to kiss the bride! You REALLY don’t want interruptions during this moment.
For one couple, that moment was interrupted… by the groom!
Jessica and Jefferson were near the end of the ceremony when something unexpected happened. The two had just walked to the front of the room and were doing the typical things that you do when getting married.
Things were normal, and everyone watched intently until Jefferson announced to the room that he had a confession.
After exchanging their vows, Jefferson stopped the ceremony and looked at his wife. Raising his voice, he said to the entire room that he had a big confession. He said that he loved his wife dearly, he just wanted her to know that he loved another girl in the room.
The entire audience was shocked… until he turned.
People were stunned into silence. “Is he going to end this now? Did he cheat?” were all thoughts running through people’s heads. Jefferson quickly put all that to rest, however, when he turned to the little 8-year-old that was up on the stage near him – Jessica’s daughter.
Jessica had a daughter of her own from a previous relationship.
Growing up in a blended family can be really tough, especially when big changes like this happen. Knowing that, Jefferson wanted to make a point of including her in the family and let her know that he loved her just like he loved her mom.
With the whole room watching the spectacle, Jefferson made a pledge.
He vowed that he would love Giovanna just like he loved Jessica, her mom. The original is in Portuguese, but this is the core of what he said:
“If I could ask God for anything, it would be to have you as my daughter. I would be the proudest father in the world to have such a beautiful, intelligent and educated daughter like you . . . I also give you love, my love, to always take care of you, to always protect you and to not let anything bad happen to you.”
As expected, the entire room was a mess.
You can’t NOT cry over something like that! The emotional roller coaster of fear, worry, and finally, joy resulted in there not being a dry eye in the room.
