There are plenty of stunning aspects of nature – but imagining holding the title of the world’s most beautiful tree.

The title belongs to a wisteria tree Ashikaga Flower Park in Tochigi, Japan – and just wait until you see it.

The tree is huge, measuring 1,990 square meters, and its flower vines are so long that they almost brush the floor.

Japan is one of the most stunning regions to visit in spring, and it’s mostly thanks to the wisteria, also known as Fuji.

This beloved flowering tree represents love beauty, victory, and immortality in Japanese culture.

Would you want to visit Japan in the spring for sights like this?

If so, you’d be one of the millions of tourists who do just that.

Known as the “Great Miracle Wisteria”, the world’s most beautiful tree is more than 150 years old – that makes it the oldest living wisteria in Japan.

Wisterias aren’t actually trees, regardless of how they look.

They’re often referred to as trees, but look closely, and you’ll notice that the branches are held up by support beams. This is because wisterias are a vine, and they can’t stay upright as a normal tree can.

The support beams hardly look practical, though. In fact, they create artwork out of the tree’s beautiful hanging flowers, resulting in a bright pink canopy that stretches out far around the tree.

Visitors can walk beneath the canopy, and at certain times of the day, the blooms cast a pinkish-purple glow, almost like a sunset.

Fancy visiting the world’s most beautiful tree? You can!

Of course, you’re probably best to wait until there’s a bit more certainty around travel again. COVID-19 hasn’t quite gone away yet, and our health is more important than anything else.

But when it’s safe to travel, you can visit Ashikaga Flower Park year-round. Keep in mind that you’ll need to visit during peak blooming months – usually from mid-March to early May.

The park is open between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., with extended hours during the busier season. It takes about two hours to travel from central Tokyo to the park using public transportation.

The famous wisteria tree isn’t the park’s only attraction.

If you love nature, you’ll be surrounded by it in this 23-acre flower park. Along with 350 wisteria trees of different varieties, you’ll also find a variety of other flowering plants.

Visit between April and May and you might catch the Great Wisteria Festival, during which hundreds of the beautiful trees are lit up at night.

You can find more information about the Ashikaga Flower Park by visiting the park’s official website.
