With names such as Elvis Presley, Bo Diddley, and Fats Domino, the 50s were an incredible musical era and the start of the rock and roll period.
The big boom electric guitar was known around the world and this style has definitely changed the music industry forever. Even though this era is most commonly known as the rock and roll period, there were a bunch of other genres and styles that defined this decade.
Jazz, doo-wop, pop, country music, blues – and of course, swing.

Around the 1950s, dance really starting taking off as well. In this particular video, you can see that there is a preference for lindy hop moves, and they’re definitely pretty cool and impressive. Lindy hop – sometimes also referred to as jazz dance – can be regarded as a descendant of swing dance and has actually been around for quite some time, reaching its peak in the late 1930s.
It is often said that both the dancers and the viewers of jazz dance get excited, simply because the energy is too infectious!
