After watching certain videos, you find yourself wondering, “WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE?”. Unfortunately, a recent video causes that exact reaction and it’s terribly heartbreaking.
The video shows a teenager on the side of the road with his dog.
The teen is hanging out on the shoulder of the road right next to his car. There is clearly someone else in the vehicle (you can see their face in the side view mirror). As we watch, the kid pulls a dog out of the car and has him sitting with him on the pavement.
Things don’t seem all that strange – until the teen hops back into the car.
Telling his dog to sit, the obedient pup sits down without an issue. Taking his collar off and opening the door, the teen gets in and closes it swiftly. It all comes together – this family is abandoning their dog. As they pull away, the poor pup realizes what is happening and tried to run after the car.
In an incredibly heartbreaking scene, the husky runs as fast as he can to reach the car.
Without slowing down a bit, the family keeps on straight and leaves their dog in the dust. It is horrible. The video soon ended up on a Facebook page in El Paso, Texas. The original event happened in Horizon City, right outside El Paso, so it was soon all over the local news.
When Catherine Clapsaddle saw the video, her heart broke.
She knew that the dog was terribly hurt from seeing his family intentionally leave him on the side of the road. It wasn’t a hard decision for her to make – she was going to rescue the dog. Watching the poor pup try and run back to his family had left an impression on her and she knew this dog just wanted to be loved.
Making the call, she adopted the pup right away.
Catherine is a mother of two and she didn’t even tell her kids what was happening until they arrived! As they got to the shelter, her kids were shocked – they were going home with a new family member!
The pup, now named Ninook, has a family and home who truly loves him.
It’s the first dog that the family has had so they get to learn all the fun things that go along with pet ownership! Little Ninook was only 10 months old when he was adopted so he has his entire life left to live with his new siblings.
As for the driver who left Ninook…
Since the event was caught on video, they were able to track the license plate and find the person who left him. The older man in the car was charged with animal cruelty and the younger one (the teen) wasn’t. Offices said that the teen wasn’t involved in the decision to abandon the dog and wasn’t going to be charged.
