The Yeckes triplets have had the odds stacked against them since the moment they were born.

Hayley, Cassidy and Sierra Yeckes were born into chaos. When they were toddlers their mother passed away and their father was sent to prison. They went to live with their grandmother at this time. Their grandmother did not believe in schooling and kept them home. It was not until they were eight years old that they finally were able to go to school.

The Yeckes triplets had a lot of catching up to do.

Around this time, their father was released and they went to live with him. This only brought more hardships.

“He started to leave us for like weeks, months at a time. We were left to kind of take care of ourselves,” they told FOX5.

They learned to take care of each other with no parent supervision when they were only children themselves.

One night, when their father was not home, their house was shot up. Authorities stepped in and forced them to live with their other grandparents. Once again they had to restructure their lives. These grandparents did not provide them with food or clothing. Two of the sisters found jobs at Albertsons to buy the necessities they needed.

They had to balance school, work, and a chaotic home life. This would cause many children to break or even give up but these triplets did not. They all were able to maintain a 4.0 GPA. and provide for each other.

Sierra told News3, “The three of us have relied on each other as a support system and that helped a lot actually … so, I think if we hadn’t had that, if we were all single children or if we were even different ages we’d be in a different situation.”

The bond between the triplets has only grown stronger with each hardship.

The triplets are best friends. Hayley told News3 that her sisters were her favorite people in the world. All three sisters were at the top of their graduating senior class. They had many opportunities for their future but they did not want to separate. The Yeckes triplets were all accepted to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas with full scholarships. They are on to their next adventure and they are doing it like they have done everything else, together.

“I’m so excited because we get to live on campus and will actually want to go home at the end day and we’ll finally be able to have a place to solidly do our work,” they told FOX5.

While the triplets are all attending the same college, they all have very different goals.

Sierra is studying to be a teacher, Cassidy is studying to be a nurse, and Hayley is studying to become a social worker. Each triplet is studying to go into a career that helps others. These girls know the importance of a strong role model in a child’s life and they have found career paths to be just that for future children.

FOX5 heard of the Yeckes triplets and wanted to help.

FOX5 surprised them at their high school graduation with three separate surprises. The three surprises will be life changing for the triplets. One of the triplets was so excited she hugged Erica Sandra Jones, the FOX5 reporter, and picked her up.

“I see this stuff on TV all the time but I’ve never seen this like happen before and like I’m just like this is real and it happened to me. I didn’t think I was gonna make it to 18 and now I’m here and I’m just like, yes, I am so happy,” Hayley told FOX5.
