A swanky salon in Spain, La Salvajeria, is being praised for giving a stunning, new makeover.

Jose Antonio, a 55-year-old resident of Majorca, has lived on the streets for the past 25 years of his life. A former electrician, Jose lost everything while battling a severe bout of depression.

Living in an abandoned house and working as an unlicensed parking attendant, the scruffy-looking Jose catches the attention of a local salon owner who offers him a “hipster” makeover.

The salon films Jose’s transformation as the stylist cuts and buzzes layers of the man’s tangled gray locks and painstakingly trims his beard.

With every snip of the scissors and buzz of the razor, an unrecognizable (and extremely handsome) face begins to appear.

Jose’s sheared hair and beard are dyed a deep chocolate brown. One worker tweezes his brows, while the next applies subtle makeup. When the La Salvajeria employees have finished coiffing Jose to perfection, they are ready to reveal the finished product.

As Jose turns to look at his reflection, his jaw begins to drop. He looks like he could be a Hollywood celeb A-lister.

According to a translation provided by The Sun, the emotional Jose exclaims:

“My God, this is incredible, is this me? I’m so different. No one’s going to recognize me unless I tell them who I am.”

The city’s people are also amazed.

According to The Sun, acquaintance Paula Boccardo says, “I’m at a loss for words. Jose helps me to park my car every day.” Another local jokingly calls out:

“Where’s your Ferrari, mate?”

The video makeover, which was recorded in September 2016, was not released until the salon’s third birthday, 18 months later.

Since receiving the makeover, Jose— who has been nicknamed “George Clooney”— feels like he has received a new lease on life.

He has gotten himself a place to live and new clothes, and he has also undergone medical treatment on his eyes, ears, and feet. In an interview with Daily Mail Online, Jose says:

“I doubt any of these changes would have happened if it wasn’t for the help of people like the hair salon owner and other locals who have assisted me to get back on my feet […] The new look has helped me deal with the way I feel inside. It’s had so many practical consequences.”

As of March 2017, Jose is still working at the car park, but he plans on finding a regular job once he can get his health problems under control.

Isn’t it amazing what a new look can do for someone’s confidence?
