You don’t need to have superhuman strength and powers to be called a “hero.”

Today, we describe a modern-day hero as someone who has a kind and genuine heart to help. Regardless of the situation, a true hero must be someone who is willing to give without expecting something in return.

Heroism can also come from all ages and genders. The bottom line is there is always a hero in us and it’s just a matter of time before we unleash it from inside out.

A group of high school students at Layton Christian Academy displayed an unparalleled act of heroism. It’s when they bravely rushed to aid a mother and her two children trapped under a vehicle in the school’s parking lot.

The incident happened suddenly, catching the attention of Chris Crowder, the school’s associate pastor and CEO, who quickly mobilized the teenagers to assist.

Not fully aware of the situation initially, Crowder noticed it after hearing screams. He then wasted no time and immediately sprang into action.

Calling out urgently, Crowder rallied around 520 students—comprising 220 domestic and 300 international students—whose diverse backgrounds didn’t hinder their swift response.

They rushed out, converging around the car captured by school surveillance cameras.

With their combined strength, the students managed to lift the vehicle to a level high enough to allow an airman from Hill Air Force Base to extricate the mother and child to safety.

Capeless heroes

Detailing the rescue, Crowder praised the quick thinking and unity of the students and the timely assistance from the Air Force personnel.

The 2-year-old boy was airlifted to Primary Children’s Hospital, while the mother and her 3-year-old daughter were transported by ambulance.

The mother sustained the most severe injuries, requiring multiple surgeries.

Emphasizing the miraculous survival of the trio, Crowder attributed their fortunate outcome to divine intervention.
