It’s saddening to think that many animals don’t get to enjoy the nature. It is because some of them don’t have the freedom to wander and see its beauty. Though being free is what they really deserve, it is being compromised as a lot of them are being slaughtered for their meat.
It’s heartbreaking that in many parts of Romania, wild horses’ legs are being bound with chains.
It’s a common practice there to stop the horses from being able to run away. It’s a cruel treatment for the horses because clearly, it causes them pain.
A poor wild horse was spotted in Letea and it was a victim of this inhumane treatment.
It was seen by a veterinarian for the Four Paws team and he is Ovidiu Rosu. His mission was to rescue the horse and unchain not only its legs but also its whole life.
Ovidiu shoots the horse with a tranquilizer gun to put it to sleep. He did this thing to prevent the horse from panicking and attempting to escape. He tries his best to save it without causing it pain. He also covers its eyes so it wouldn’t be awake while removing the chains.
While Ovidiu is busy rescuing the horse, another horse is watching him. It looks like this horse couldn’t wait to see its friend being freed.
The horse’s legs are not in good condition.
I couldn’t imagine how this animal endured this painful situation for a long time. Too bad, the chains also cut into its skin causing excruciating wounds. This is totally cruel!
The vet finally removes these bonds.
He got a pair of pliers and tries to remove the wires on the horse’s hooves carefully. Right after that, he also checked its wound.
Some horses were right beside the rescuer and their friend. It looks like they want to observe the whole process. By looking at them, you can feel that they are grateful for the rescuers.
The horse was untied but the rescuers were still waiting for it to wake up.
Once it did, they removed the cover on its eyes so it can enjoy its freedom. They also helped it up to its hooves. They did not leave the horse without making sure that it is completely okay.
Clearly, the entire Four Paws team especially Ovidiu Rosu did everything to save the horse.
The whole video of how they did it has reached more than 13 million people ever since it was uploaded on YouTube in 2016. The clip also shows how a horse expressed gratitude to the rescuer and that is by giving him a sweet kiss.
This gesture coming from an animal is just heartwarming. It even made Ovidiu flash a smile that shows pure bliss.
It’s amazing how compassion and kindness can bring so much happiness to many of us. It saved the horse’s life and gave us a sigh of relief.
I believe that compassion and kindness can also end the agony of other animals that are suffering right now. The world badly needs these two things from all of us.
