Something borrowed, something blue … something … resembling a flash mob?
Couples tying the knot today aim to have their particular wedding and reception stand out. Whether it’s an amazing gown, elaborate dinner or exceptional tiered cake, people want the best of the best for their special day.
One fun and crazy trend happens to be bridal parties putting on quite the show with special choreographed routines. Sometimes it’s the bride and groom, or a bride and her dad boogying on the dance floor. Maybe the groom’s mom and the groom cutting a rug.
When Hayley Grinder and Zack Mondres of Virginia planned their wedding, Zack had a huge surprise for his lovely bride. He worked with a choreography company, providing experts with the names of songs he wanted to dance to just for his bride.
He couldn’t wait to see her reaction!
He recruited his groomsmen and other guys in the bridal party to dance with him and pull off the wildest routine for their Aug. 4 wedding. A team documented the dance routine and it’s since gone viral on YouTube and social media.
Hayley and Zack were wrapping up bridal party photos at the reception with the two of them seated side by side; the guys stood behind them. Guests were laughing and talking at the tables around them.
The music playing softly in the background suddenly cut to the theme song from Disney’s hit movie The Lion King. Caught completely off guard, Hayley glances around and spies the guys picking up Zack’s chair.
They carry him around as if he’s a king, then set him down while Hayley stays seated, her mouth dropped open in complete shock. What is her new husband up to?
It doesn’t take long for Hayley to discover just what Zack has up his sleeve. He’s about to treat the love of his life to a wedding reception she’ll never forget.
She remains seated while the guys lock arms as if they were in a football huddle. When a Chris Brown song kicks off, they saunter to their spots on the wooden floor and her hubby begins to lip-sync to his bride while the guys dance behind him.
Zack throws off his vest and struts his stuff with swagger when LMFAO’s song “Sexy and I Know It” begins to blare. The guys rip the sleeves off his button-down dress shirt and he shows off his muscles. He even throws in a few R-rated hip thrusts.
The whole gang gathers around the bride and shakes their butts to Sir Mix-A-Lot’s “Baby Got Back” and Hayley, surrounded by rear-ends, seems to pretend to play the drums on a few of them while the crowd cracks up.
Suddenly the mood changes from butt shaking to the Back Street Boys. The guys slip on black sunglasses and smoothly dance and sing to “I Want It That Way”
They channel their inner sassy Brittni Spears with some hip shakes and then crawl all sultry-like to “Baby One More Time” across the floor toward the bride. A jamming beat kicks on and everyone in the crowd claps along with this crazy group of guys including the bride who is simply beaming at this point. The groom shakes his butt in her face and she even dances in her seat along with them as they hop around.
When the theme song from Titanic kicks in, the groom channels his inner Rose and pretends he’s on the bow of the boat with the guys holding him up, the wind blowing a saltwater spray in his face. Two guys row in the water and people are cracking up at this point.
Even better is that they manage to hold him seemingly suspended in the air and they all tiptoe around to mimic motion as if they were actually on a boat!
Another song plays but the crowd really gets wound up when “Time of My Life” from Dirty Dancing kicks on. The guys scatter around and suddenly, Zack is left standing all alone.
He gets a running start, leaps into the air and his groomsmen catch and lift him up just like Johnny did with Baby. The crowd goes wild over this dance move!
Then, the ending to this epic wedding reception routine comes around. “One Call Away” begins to play and Zach sings to his bride that he’ll be here to save the day, just like the lyrics go…
“Superman got nothing on me…”
That’s his cue to rip open his dress shirt and reveal a Superman T-shirt underneath. He kneels in front of bride and the crowd goes wild with applause, cheers and whistles.
Zach shared on his YouTube channel that he was inspired to do this by others who “were brave enough to do this before me.”
“BIG thanks to my groomsmen and best man. They all had to practice on their own since we live in different states and managed to do an incredible job with only one group practice the day of the wedding. LOVE YOU GUYS.”
Facebook users loved the video, too, and just gushed over it, like Charlie Lynn Romanko.
“OK. I can officially stop watching these dances now. Without a doubt, this really IS epic … the best one I’ve ever seen! The groom’s facial expressions are hilarious, and he’s cute and sexy as well. The bride is cute, too, and a good match for him. She was sooo into it. I loved watching them both. You can tell they really have a good thing going on. May they have a long and happy marriage.”
