A recently released commercial by Farmers Department store is reminding us of what it means to be a proper neighbor this Christmas by telling the story of two families.
The advert starts with the old man and his wife seeing a new, young family moves in. They’re noisy, and he seems like your stereotypical cranky neighbor. He sees all of the commotions that happen now that they have moved in, and that’s when he seems more annoyed than ever. It’s at that moment he sees the mother of the family have a little breakdown from the stress as her son broke their coffee machine while running outside.
This is when things take a turn and the old man shows off his sweet side- the man goes to a local department store to pick up a new coffee maker and delivers it to the mother the next time he sees her. It’s an adorable moment that showcases what neighbors are there for! He also gives them an old fan after seeing the father of the family try to keep himself and their young infant cool in the hot summer afternoon.
The elderly man does all of this out of the kindness of his heart, but it turns out that someone learned what it means to be a proper neighbor- the little boy next door! Seeing the old man help their family convinces him to do something nice for and pay it forward to the old man.
On Christmas night, he brings a glass of milk and cookies to the old man’s front door! It’s a touching moment that has us feeling warm and hopeful this Christmas!
