When Ashley’s boyfriend, Will Seaton, got down on one knee to ask her to marry him, she elatedly said “yes!” But then — he turned to her sister and bent down on his knee once more.
This might seem like an odd situation, but when you find out the truth behind it — your heart will melt.
After proposing to his girlfriend, Will turned to her sister, Hannah, and asked if she too, would be his best friend for life. You see, wherever Ashley goes, Hannah will be right alongside her. They are a package of two, and Will understood that.
Hannah has Down Syndrome and diabetes. Her sister, Ashley, is her loving caregiver.
“The only time I’d ever brought it up, is I made a joke and I had said something like, ‘You never thought you’d have to marry two girls at once, right?'” Ashley giggles as she recalls talking to her fiance. “And that’s about it!”
As Ashley and Will’s relationship continued to grow, Will began to build his friendship with Hannah as well. She was truly a sister to him as well.
Not only did Will schedule a photographer to capture the adorable “double proposal,” he wasn’t just going to stop there. During the wedding ceremony, Will had written vows for Hannah too.
The wedding ceremony was beautiful. Before the big moment of the bride making her lifelong partner vows, Hannah and Will said their “best friend vows” in front of all their family and friends. The happiness on Hannah’s face is palpable through the screen.
“Hannah, do you take Will to be your best friend?” the officiant asks her. “Do you promise to go fishing, and tell him silly jokes, and always care for Will?”
“Yes,” Hannah shyly giggles.
“Will, do you take Hannah to be your best friend?” he poses the question to the groom. “Do you promise to go fishing, tell her silly jokes, and always care for Hannah?”
“Yes,” the compassionate groom replies.
“Then I pronounce you the best of friends forever! You may hug your best friend.”
After Will and Hannah make their “best friend vows,” he tells her he loves her, and they give each other a sweet hug.
Will and Ashley took to the dance floor for their first dance. Shortly after, Will and Hannah had their very own “best friend dance.” Ashley couldn’t have been happier to share her big day and this special moment with her sister.
“You know, we’re just really close. It doesn’t even cross my mind to think that I’d want it by myself,” Ashley explains.
Will is a stand-up guy and his kind, loving, and compassionate actions are proof of that. Ashley and Hannah are lucky girls! Footage and pictures of the beautiful moment are below.
