Ask most moms what they want for Mother’s Day, and most won’t talk about flowers, chocolates and perfume.

For pretty much every mom out there, simply getting to spend the special day with their children is enough for them.

It’s tough being away from your children, as we’ve learned during these past months of quarantine and isolation.

One woman who knows all about the pain of missing a child is Tina, a mom of four based in Sydney, Australia.

Tina’s daughter, Donna, had recently moved from Australia to the United States, separating the pair by thousands of miles. They hadn’t seen each other for over a year.

As a special Mother’s Day treat, a couple of radio hosts prepared a surprise that Tina could have never expected…

Kyle and Jackie O, of KIIS 106.5, had been working their magic over the past year for a whole host of deserving moms.

This was pre-Covid (remember those times?), so it was safe for people to travel, with no restrictions in place.

In the video produced by KIIS, we learn more about Tina, and what makes her such a superstar mom.

The hard worker has a job at a Coles supermarket, which often sees her working night shifts to make ends meet.

Like many moms, Tina’s main purpose is to make sure she can provide for herself and her family. If there’s anyone who deserves a fantastic surprise, it’s her.

To avoid arousing suspicion, Jackie O arranged for the surprise to take place at Tina’s workplace.

What Tina didn’t know was that while she busily worked her job, her daughter was in another aisle in the very building.

Never in a million years would Tina expect to have her daughter home for Mother’s Day, which is what makes the next moment so special.

Kyle made an anouncement through the supermarket’s speakers, calling Tina to Aisle 6.

Tina’s daughter was posing as a customer, reading the back of a cereal box, when Tina strode past her.

She was so caught up in her job, bless her, that she didn’t realize she’d actually been called to see her daughter!

It’s only when Tina’s daughter shouted, “Excuse me?” that her mom turned around… and realized was calling her!

Tina hunched over in shock, crying, while her daughter struck a pose, as if to say, “It’s really me – I’m here!”

The pair exchanged an emotional cuddle, while Tina’s colleagues clapped and cheered.

With Mother’s Day in the US not far approaching, it still remains uncertain how many of us will be able to visit our moms in person.

But there are plenty of ways to show your mom that you appreciate her from a distance.

Simply sending her a message to thank her for being a legend and remind her that you love her is enough.

You could also call her unexpectedly to let her know that you’re thinking about her. Time is one of our most precious resources, and giving up a part of the day to check in shows just how much you care.
