It is common knowledge that the way we look can affect the way we feel about ourselves and the way we perceive the world around us.
From young to older people, everyone can be benefitted from a change of looks for the better.
And, although younger people are the ones who usually take time to improve their appearance in order to get a better job or have a chance with their crush, older people can see their lives change after a makeover, too.
For those who are over a certain age, looking at themselves in the mirror may not remind them of the person they once were, thus making them feel disappointed, losing their passion for life.
For those older people, a makeover would mean that they have the chance to reinvent themselves, giving them a sense of identity and higher self-esteem.
For Phoebe Standish, a change was more than needed- it was mandatory.
The 76-year-old woman had lived most of her life in the same place, but she left to go to Vermont after 49 years. This change in her life was accompanied by many negative feelings, which also affected her health, but she managed to stand back on her feet until another tragedy hit.
Her son, Scott, passed away from pancreatic cancer, and the loss was devastating for her.
“Recently, I lost my son to pancreatic cancer,” she narrated to the Makeover Guy and his team. “I’m feeling pretty good at the moment. I’m living day by day really, and coping with a new way of life.”
Indeed, it is obvious that this smiling, sweet lady desperately needs a change in her life. And, the way she sees it, changing the way she looks may be exactly what she needs in order to adapt to her new life more easily.
Christopher Hopkins, aka The Makeover Guy, knows how to bring the beauty out of each and every person who reaches out to him for a makeover.
Just like he does every time, he found a movie star in Phoebe and brought her out for everyone to see and admire.
When the elderly woman sees herself on the monitor, she can’t believe her eyes. And viewers can’t either. She looks at least a decade younger, and she could definitely pass for a movie star with her gorgeous red locks!
But, most importantly, the woman spent a good day with Hopkins and his crew, and the change in her mood was obvious when she gave the camera a smile.
“I had a wonderful day today,” she said. “Absolutely wonderful! I feel rejuvenated, really!”
Standish added that she was “very pleased” with the makeover, and she couldn’t stop smiling and thanking everyone for their excellent job.
The Makeover Guy’s video went viral on YouTube with more than 1 million views, and hundreds of people left positive comments.
“Took 20 years off, she looks gorgeous and what a gift Christopher gave to this woman struggling with unimaginable grief,” someone wrote.
