This young man has 1.9M followers, and if you ask about his content, itâs not the usual funny clips, food vlogs, or fun dances.
Chrisâ clips are all about his “Lola”.
They’re about his beautiful, adorable, and sweet grandmother and what they do every day.
Aside from being a musician and content producer, this 29-year-old man from Henderson, Nevada, is also the full-time caretaker of his grandmother.
Chris had always aspired to be a well-known YouTuber. He experimented with different content and style, but he was unaware that what made him successful was someone close to his heart.
This young lad and his family were from Tarlac, a province in the Philippines. They later moved to the United States.
With them came his Lola.
His grandmother used to be an elementary school teacher in the Philippines and had been for more than two decades.
Chris and his grandmother are speaking the âKapampanganâ dialect in their TikTok videos.
According to Chris, it was the year 2015 when his grandma was 88 years old, and their family had a tough time deciding if they were going to hire a full-time caregiver, or would bring âlolaâ into the home for the aged.
Chris knew where he stood.
Lola is the Filipino term for grandma, but you would often hear Chris call her âApuâ the Kapampangan version of grandma.
Chris couldnât imagine his lola going to the home for the aged, nor seeing her be with someone she doesnât know.
Then, he realized that since he was close with his lola, he would be the one to take care of her.
He devotes all his time to her.
He knew that this task required his undivided attention, love, and patience, but he was ready.
Chris has been sharing photos of his grandma since 2014 and vlogging since 2019.
It was when he began to upload clips of their daily lives that people saw their incredible connection.
Taking care of his grandmother is not a walk in the park, it required lots of attention and patience, but he doesnât mind.
His grandma is worth every minute.
One thing that people noticed was how soft-spoken and sweet his grandmother is.
She would often ask for her rosary and would also thank Chris for taking care of her.
He shows all the ins and outs.
Their daily vlogs consist of Chris preparing for grandmaâs bed, putting all the pillows in the right places so sheâd feel comfortable, asking her to sip water, and telling her that he loves her.
Then, there are the bigger tasks of explaining how they prep for bath time, how he explains to her whatâs going on outside, and even how he changes her nappies.
In one of his latest interviews on a local Philippine channel, he said that sometimes, reality sets in and he feels afraid.
Chris said lola’s been really forgetful.
There are times when she would ask who he was, and how they were related, and this makes the young man feel sad.
He said we should treasure every moment.
Every moment with our loved ones is precious and we should treat them the best while weâre still able to.
Chris always goes the extra mile to ensure his lola is content, looks after her needs, and knows how much he loves her.
