This is a difficult time for all of us. The coronavirus crisis is affecting countless people, far and wide, and even those who haven’t actually caught the virus are still having to deal with countless other issues caused by things like lockdown and quarantine.
Mental health and general well-being are at risk during these times, and a lot of people are simply feeling sad and lonely, stuck indoors without the ability to see their friends and families.
The elderly, in particular, are especially vulnerable right now. A lot of them live alone, encouraged to stay cooped up at all costs and frightened of what might happen next, but one inspiring old man is setting an amazing example, staying positive and making the best of a bad situation!
This is Frank Cicorelli and his daughter, Connie. Frank is 82 years old. His wife passed away seven years ago, when he was 75, and since then, he’s lived alone.
You might think that he’d be feeling down, lonely, and perhaps even depressed during the pandemic, but a recent video shows that Frank has actually been living up his lockdown life, grooving and moving with a broom in his hand to one of his favorite tracks, ‘Achy Breaky Heart’.
He made a video of him dancing to the song and shared it with Connie and her brother online.
The funny clip kicks off with the classic song playing in the background as Frank looks at the camera with his dancing partner, a simple wooden broom, in his hand.
From there, he steps back onto his living room dancefloor and starts to groove around, twirling the broom in his hands and wiggling his hips from side to side.
For an 80 year old, Frank sure has got some smooth moves! It’s a shame his camera isn’t the best quality, so we can’t see a whole lot of detail, but we can still see him happily dancing along, and it’s more than enough to put a smile on our faces!
Frank is usually a super sociable guy.
He’s always outdoors, hanging out with friends and family, going on walks in nature, and generally living life to the fullest.
Unfortunately, as he’s so old and lives in Michigan, one of the hardest-hit states of all, he’s had to be confined to his home since the outbreak started to get serious.
Frank recently underwent heart bypass surgery too, and it’s absolutely inspiring to see this incredible old guy, who has been through quite a lot, still making the most of every day and always looking on the bright side.
Connie says that Frank loves to take lots of pictures and videos and share them on his Facebook account with the whole family. Her husband, a high school teacher, even joked that Frank spends more time on his phone than most teens!
The couple Facetime with Frank a couple of times a week, and he’s clearly keeping himself busy in some unexpected ways too. Thanks for the smiles, Frank, and let’s hope you can see your family again soon.
