The love of a grandparent knows no bounds.
They’ve seen it all. Like seriously, grandparents have been through multiple World Wars, a global pandemic, the Cold War, and much, much more.
They’re seasoned vets when it comes to life.
But that doesn’t mean they don’t get sentimental. Grandparents are big softies at heart. Their love is like a fine wine.
So when one lovely granddaughter surprised her unsuspecting “Papi,” emotions flew all over the place.
Granddaughter slowly approaches her unsuspecting abuelito.
He’s minding his own business, ready to order. This looks like a fine dining experience.
But there’s about to be a lot more than food on his plate! She taps him on the arm.
Papi’s face lights up… with bewilderment.
Papi can’t believe it. This isn’t real. It’s just fantasy.
He holds his granddaughter’s hand to make sure he’s not dreaming.
Reality check – passed, barely.
Sometimes, life is sweet. But he’s still skeptical.
It’s not every day that he gets to see his granddaughter, ya know.
They say seeing is believing. Maybe feeling is, too.
To give him some reassurance, the loving granddaughter gives Papi a warm hug.
This must be some kind of dream. There’s no way. It’s been quite some time.
But it’s true. She’s there, in the flesh.
Papi puts his hand on his forehead. This day’s already been an emotional rollercoaster.
How much more can he take?!
Hopefully, he’s prepared for much, much more. There’s more than enough love to go around today.
Up next: the waterworks.
Crying is common in response to a traumatic or stressful event. But people cry out of happiness, too.
Scientists speculate that tears may be associated with balancing emotional states – an equilibrium of sorts. Others assert that crying intensifies life’s most joyous moments.
Tears promote catharsis!
Have you ever seen an old man cry?
Those are real tears. When the glasses come off, you know it’s some serious stuff.
The hugs keep coming. You don’t get to see all the people you love every day. But when you do, cherish every single moment!
They may be generations apart, but these two are setting a fine example of humanity.
This particular hug’s worth more than a thousand words.
I’m not crying, you’re crying!
And it didn’t stop there. Papi stands up to pay respects to his granddaughter. Chair hugs only go so far.
Even after all this time, he can still hardly believe it. But he’s slowly but surely accepting – and loving – his current situation.
She gives him a big kiss on the cheek. It seriously doesn’t get much sweeter than this.
That face and that embrace say it all.
It’s been a minute. In fact, it’s been much more than a minute!
He still barely believes what’s standing in front of him. She might have just made his year!
It’s nice to be loved, that’s for sure.
What’s the greatest surprise you’ve ever experienced? How would you react if you were Papi?
