Good things happen when you do the right thing.
Good karma will find you and reward you for every single thing you do right. But sometimes, the right thing to do isn’t always easy.
For example, you found a wallet full of cash when you had nothing. It’s a moral dilemma, and it’s tempting not to do the right thing.
A woman from Colton, California, who faced this dilemma, knew exactly what to do.
Vicky Umodu moved to California to be closer to her grandchildren. She was getting older and didn’t want to miss any moment she could spend with them.
It was also an excellent way to help her children while they go to work.
Vicky found a home to stay in, but the house was bare.
It had no furniture whatsoever, and she wanted to fill her house to utilize the space and make it look homey.
She checked some furniture on Craigslist and found a ‘Free’ section.
That’s when she saw somebody giving away their entire living room set for free.
She was a bit skeptical and thought it was a gimmick. But she called the number anyway just to see if it were real – and it was.
What a great bargain she found there!
It turned out that the owner’s uncle had passed away and was clearing up his uncle’s belongings.
They gave away his furniture for free since no one else would ever use everything in his old home.
The owner, who preferred not to be named, gave the living room set to Vicky, who was grateful to get everything for free.
Vicky rearranged her furniture a week after noticing something in one of the cushions.
She was propping the cushions when she felt something weird on the other side.
At first, she thought it was a heating pad or something, but since she wasn’t so sure, she went on and opened the cushion cover and had the shock of her life.
In it was a bag full of envelopes containing $36,000 cash!
Vicky called her son to see what she had just discovered and knew exactly what they would do with that amount of money.
Her son called the previous couch owner and told them about what they found, and they invited him to come over to get the envelopes.
He dropped by their home, grateful for their honesty. But he noticed one thing.
Since Vicky’s house was still bare, he noticed she didn’t have a refrigerator.
He offered to buy her a new one, and they worked on looking for the one she wanted and needed. The fridge cost $2,200.
The previous owner did not hesitate to give Vicky the money she needed to buy it.
She said she never expected anything but was grateful for his gesture since she needed one.
It seemed like good karma went her way because she did the right thing!
“I didn’t expect him to give me anything. He doesn’t have to. That belongs to them. They need to keep it. I just think it’s just doing the right thing,” she told CBS Los Angeles.
So, if you were in the grandma’s position, do you think you’d return the money too?
