Acts of Kindness
Man hears God tell him to go out to his front door and it leads him to save a life
Had he not listened to that voice he never would have been able to save someone.

Many people are trained in CPR but, thankfully, they never need to use it in a life-and-death situation.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), if CPR is performed within the first few minutes of cardiac arrest, it can double or even triple the chances of survival.

Brad Pearson, a physical therapist for 35 years, never had to do CPR in a hospital setting.

However, one fateful day, he needed to do it right outside his home.

East Idaho News featured Pearson’s story during an episode of Feel Good Friday.

Reporter Nate Eaton visited Pearson at his home to give him several gift cards as a thank you gift from the community.

Pearson told Eaton what happened the day before as he was working from home.

He was sitting at his kitchen table when he heard something outside his front door.

He wasn’t sure what he heard, and he thought it might be people talking, so he went out to check what it was.

When he opened the front door, he saw a man kneeling down in the pasture across the street.

Pearson thought the man was fixing something and didn’t think anything significant was happening.

He went back inside and headed towards his kitchen table to return to work.

However, something special happened instead.

“God told me that I needed to come back out to the porch.

So, I came back out to the porch and hollered out to the Hispanic gentleman and asked him if he’s okay.

In his broken English, he said, ‘please see, please see’ then leans down and picks up a man,” Pearson shared.

Pearson saw that the man was holding an unconscious person, so he ran out his door and called 911 to ask for an ambulance.

Pearson became teary-eyed as he was recounting the story of what happened that day.

When he got to there, Pearson realized that the unconscious man wasn’t breathing and he had no pulse.

He immediately started CPR.

He continued to do CPR until the ambulance arrived, which he said felt like an eternity.

Pearson also shared that he was extremely exhausted after and that he asked God to help him, so he could help the unconscious man.

Pearson suffers from long-haul COVID which causes him to be easily tired.

“I was able to keep doing it [chest compressions], so I kind of feel it was a huge miracle,” he shared.

The man is now on his way to recovery, thanks to Pearson and the first responders.

“The paramedics used an AED on him multiple times and used a machine to do chest compressions,” Pearson said.

They worked on him in his field for another thirty minutes before transporting him to a hospital via ambulance.

“I feel like it was a huge miracle. The fact that I heard him in the first place and went out there. The fact that I was able to do that,” he shared.

Pearson said that he was grateful to God that he could be a tool in his hand and help somebody that needed help.

The man he saved was touch and go for awhile, but he is now expected to make a full recovery.

When Eaton gave him the gift cards he could use for online shopping or going out to dinner with whoever he wants, Pearson said, “My sweetheart, my wife.”

What an amazing story perfect for Feel Good Friday.

We are grateful for people like Pearson who go out of their comfort zone to help others, without expecting anything in return.
