Seeing an Officer do something kind is often pretty humanizing. When those moments are captured on camera, it can be a truly heartwarming AND viral event. For one man in Leon County, Florida, a kind act turned into more than he ever expected.
Sporting events aren’t the easiest thing for people with disabilities to navigate.
Often, the crowds are overwhelming, the stands are unapproachable, and getting around is a real chore, if not impossible. For a girl at an FSU game recently, that was exactly the case.
A girl at a recent FSU game was struggling to get up the stairs to her seat.
It was clear the girl was struggling, but nobody knew how to help. Her seat was 30 rows straight up and she wasn’t able to make it. As the poor girl was attempting to make it up all those flights of stairs, a hero stepped in.
That hero wasn’t wearing a cape or anything like that, just a Deputy’s hat.
Like a pro, Deputy C. Hall swooped in and offered to help. He was working the FSU/Miami game that day and happened to notice the woman struggling. Instead of looking on, he decided to help.
What he didn’t know was that someone was watching and took notice.
Brittany Howard, an attendee to the game, saw what Deputy Hall was doing and snapped a photo. She knew that it wasn’t every day you saw something as amazing as this and she wanted a photo.
Posting it to Facebook, it made sense why people were so amazed.
Deputy Hall wasn’t just helping the girl, he literally carried her ALL the way up the stands to her seat. Walking 30 flights of stairs is hard to start – carrying a woman in your arms makes that WAY harder! Now that’s a serious workout!
Howard wrote in her Facebook post what had happened.
“I just wanted to take a minute and recognize Deputy C. Hall that was working the Florida State football game Saturday night. This young girl that has difficulty walking was struggling to get up the steps to her seat so he asked her and her mother if they would be okay with him carrying her.” – Facebook
To many, it was one of the most heartfelt things they’d ever seen. The post soon blew up and went viral with over 1.5 likes and nearing 400 shares.
“He walked at least 30 rows up to her seat and did not hesitate one bit in offering to do so.” – Facebook
The post soon garnered the attention of the department that Deputy Hall worked in!
If Howard’s shout-out wasn’t enough, his own department gave him one too. Sharing the photo themselves, they were proud to see one of their own living up to the values that they espouse each day. It was a truly memorable moment for anyone lucky enough to see it.
What’s more, FSU went on to win the game, too!
Who said karma doesn’t exist, right? Final score: 31-28, FSU. While the players played well, you can’t prove that Deputy Hall didn’t have some effect!
