There are certain things you may expect when you attend a dog show. Elegant pooches, daring feats of coordination and skill, and the best behaved doggies you can hope to see, these are all things you may have on your checklist of sites at any respectable dog show.
One thing you may not be expecting however, is to have your heart well and truly warmed.
When this young girl attended an American Kennel Club dog show, she didn’t know that her day was about to be made.
The girl, who has autism was playing with her stuffed toy dog on a playful leash, when one of the judges spotted her on the floor. steadily he approaches, and for a second you wonder if the girl is not supposed to be playing on the main floor during the show.
But the judges intention is quickly revealed.
He steps up to our prospective dog-shower, and picks the toy up gently. Talking to the girl about her adorable little stuffed companion, he indulges in her game. He begins inspecting the dog as if it were another genuine entry into the competition.
Setting it down, he continues to play.
Not just content to quickly acknowledge the game, he sets it down and gives it delicate pats, treating it like another prized pooch. A few tender strokes shows the girl that he is happy that she and her wee dog are there.
Setting the dog down, the game continues.
When he gently sets the little dog down, he asks the girl if she would like to show everyone her amazing dog. And well…let’s just say he barely has to ask before the show goes on!
Our girl jumps straight into show mode!
Without further ado, she begins running with her dog to flaunt it to the entire crowd. With such enthusiasm and gusto, she sprints like there’s a trophy on the line, and the world deserved to see her A-class competition canine!
The crowd cheers her on as she shows them what she’s got!
With admirable speed and passion, this child is having the time of her life while she enjoys being involved in all the fun of the dog show. Conventions like this can be long and boring for children, so the opportunity to have a little fun, and with one of the judges much really makes her day.
And Judge is loving it!
Indulging in the game as much as the young girl is, he’s having just as much fun. Viewers of the video have responded so positively, having had their hearts touched by this adorable interaction.
And it all ends with a hug.
After she shows what she and her dog have got, she gives the judge a great big hug! That’s not normally how these shows end, but if you ask me, I prefer it this way!
