With so much hate in the world right now, it’s easy to overlook positivity. But it’s important. Otherwise, we’d all probably lose our minds. While it might not seem like it, there are plenty of good things going on. And often, they involve some of the most unexpected people.
Walmart shopping
Regardless of when you visit a Walmart store, you can expect to see grocery carts strewn about the parking lot. Fortunately, most people are thoughtful enough to put them where they belong, whether that’s inside or outside of the store.
Employees doing their job
But for people who are too busy or lazy to put their shopping carts back, Walmart employees gather them up. It doesn’t matter if it’s hot, cold, raining, or snowing, this is one of their responsibilities.
Feeling irritated
But recently while visiting a Walmart, a mom named Tiffany saw an unusually large amount of shopping carts all over the place. Not very many people had taken the time to put them in the stalls. The very sight irritated her. After all, what’s so hard about walking a cart to the location where it belongs?
An unexpected helper
But that’s when something happened that she didn’t expect. Her daughter Ryleigh approached CJ, the Walmart employee who was busy corralling all the carts, and asked if she could help. But even after the man told her that was his job, she wasn’t deterred. On her own, she began pushing carts toward the store.
Why did she do that?
When Tiffany asked her daughter why she did that, her response was just as sweet. With a serious tone in her voice, she replied, “That’s what we are supposed to do. We are supposed to be kind.” We could all learn a lesson from this young girl.
A heart of gold
For the next 30 minutes, this girl took one cart after another inside the Walmart store. At times, she pushed a line of them. If you’ve ever tired that, it’s not particularly easy. So, you can imagine the determination it took for a girl Ryleigh’s size to accomplish it.
The story doesn’t end there
So, Tiffany and Ryleigh head back to Walmart on a different day. As they exited the vehicle, Ryleigh again saw a cart pushed against the curb. Without hesitation, she pushed it back inside the store. That’s when she spotted her new friend, CJ.
A touching moment
As mother and daughter browse through the store, CJ comes out of nowhere. He then hands Ryleigh a card, thanking her for her kind deed. But inside…a $20 bill. The girl carefully read the card and then hugged her friend.
Ryleigh couldn’t stop smiling
After all, she helped because it was the right thing to do not because she expected something in return. But to CJ, her thoughtfulness deserved to be recognized. Proudly, this girl holds up her card for her mom to take a photo of it.
Another photo op
While that was sweet, Ryleigh also wanted to have a photo taken of her and CJ. Of course, her mother was happy to do that. So, there are two morals to this story.
First, be kind. You never know how your good deeds will be repaid. And if there’s no repayment, it still feels good to do something nice. Second, giving a little bit of time goes a long way in creating memories and new friendships. Ryleigh and CJ are a testament to that.
Instead of focusing on just the bad, find some positivity in your life…it’s all around. Remember…even small gestures have big impacts.
